We just upgraded our site to https: When submitting a payment everything seems to work, but when coming back to the website the page show “Payment Status: Incomplete” in the Payment Overview. Any ideas |

Hi Gene, When you’re on the page after you return to the site from PayPal, does the payment status update after you refresh the page? |
|
Have not tried that. but what I did do is change the box for “Force HTTPS on Return URL” in the PayPal Standard setup. That seemed to work on my test. Would that make sense? Thanks you |

Yes that would make sense. |

Looks like I’m still getting the “Payment Status: Incomplete” in the Payment Overview even with that SSL box checked. But when I refresh the page, it then displays complete. Anything I can do to fix this? Dan |

Hi Dan, There really isn’t much you can do to change that because what happens is the web page that displays the information loads before the Instant Payment Notification from PayPal gets sent to your site. Possible ways to deal with this include adding a note to the Thank You page that instructs the user to refresh the page so they can see the update to the payment status. Alternatively you can migrate to Event Espresso 4 which has a feature that uses AJAX to load in the payment status in real time (without having to do a refresh). |

Thanks, Would moving to HTTPS having anything to do with it? Is there a setting in PayPal I need to change for HTTPS? |
|
Also, where in EE do I add a note to the Thank you page? Thanks, |
|
If it was related to moving to https you wouldn’t see the payment status eventually get updated after a refresh. You can add a note to the Thank You page by going to your WordPress dashboard, then you go to Pages, then you edit the Thank You page. You’ll see a shortcode in the page editor and you can add notes before and/or after the shortcode. |
