Payment received message not sent (Mollie Gateway)

Hi there,

I have EE4 with the iDeal Mollie Gateway. When people register and pay for an event, the payment is processed by Mollie and everything seems to go well, but the message ‘Payment received’ is not sent by WordPress (I checked with the WP Mail log plugin). In the ‘messages’ list in EE it says it is sent, with a green indicator in front.

When I set the Global message setting to ‘on the same request’, no mails are sent at all (and none are registered in de EE log). When I set it to ‘On a separate request’, the first two emails are sent, but not the ‘Payment received’ message.

Any idea what could be going on here?

Hi there,

I just ran a test using iDeal with both of the Global Messages settings and received the payment received message for both – http://take.ms/ystV2

The bottom section is with the setting set to ‘On a separate request’, the top is ‘On the same request’.

So its strange that your not getting them at all.

In the ‘messages’ list in EE it says it is sent, with a green indicator in front.

The only way for that to happen is for wp_mail() to return true so its its odd that its not shown in the Mail log.

Can you preview that message? – http://take.ms/AExGd
If so does it show the correct message details?

When I set the Global message setting to ‘on the same request’, no mails are sent at all (and none are registered in de EE log).

Are you using any other mail plugins on the site other than mail logging?

I can preview messages and they seem to show the right information. It’s just the ‘payment received’ message that is not sent.

I am not using any other email plugins.

So you can preview the ‘Payment Received’ message from the message activity list and it shows all of the relevant details for the payment when you preview?

Yes, it does.

Ok, so if it’s in the activity list and you can preview it then the message has correctly been triggered and generated.

The status bar showing green means when that message was sent to wp_mail to send, it returned true, meaning no errors.

The email is definitely not sitting in your spam folder, right?

However, there is a difference between the ‘normal’ emails and the payment emails.

With payment related emails, EE considers them high priority and it basically short circuits the message queue and instantly sends, which ties in with what you reported eariler:

When I set the Global message setting to ‘on the same request’, no mails are sent at all (and none are registered in de EE log).

Something is happening when emails are sending directly rather than using the message queue system.

I’d start by switching the site to send the emails ‘on the same request’, run a couple of test registrations to trigger emails and then check the error log to see if any errors are being thrown?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for helping me out here. This just got a little weirder though. I did as you said and found out there was a POST error due to spamfilters. I whitelisted the Mollie IP addresses, so no more errors. I can now see that both the ‘messages’ list and the e-mail log show all mails are sent. But I do not receive them… Not even whe I set it back on ‘on a separate request’. No mails at all. I have tried it with different email addresses from different providers. Any ideas?

Sounds like an issue with your mail server.

Try switching to one of the transactional email services we mention here:
