We currently offer 2 payment options, Stripe and PayPal. However when a customer went to process their payment through PayPal it processed through Stripe as well. Can you have to payment options? If so, how do you separate so that only the one selected takes the payment? |
Hi Shannon, Which version of Event Espresso are you using? Are you using PayPal Pro or Standard? |
|
|
Version 1.0.5 |
I had a look at the site we have linked to your license key and it looks like you are using EE3. You should be able to use multiple gateways with Event Espresso 3 without any issues. The Stripe payment gateway within EE3 is an on-site payment gateway, PayPal Standard is offsite. This means that if the user selects PayPal, they are directed to PayPal to make the payment, whether they use a PayPal account or credit/debit card with PayPal, they are actually not on your site when they make the payment. This means when paying via PayPal, it should be impossible to also trigger a Stripe payment. Did the attendee mention if they tried to pay with PayPal, then when redirected back to the site paid via Stripe? |

All they told me is that they paid thru PayPal then received a charge from Stripe also. I contacted Stripe and they told me to check our website. |

Should I switch to PayPal Pro? |
Hi there Shannon, The payment gateways are from different companies. Stripe is onsite which means that the payment would take place on your site and PayPal Standard is offsite which means that your attendees/registrants would be temporarily transferred to PayPal.com to make a payment. They would not be able to process payments for each other. The registrant/attendee may have started a payment with one payment option and then realized that they wanted to use another option. You can use any payment gateways that you would like. PayPal Pro has a similar payment process as Stripe in that it is onsite. However, this does have a monthly fee starting at $30: https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/paypal-payments-pro — |

Okay – thank you |
Hi Shannon, It may help to check with the customer, they may have been confused and thought they had to pay with both. |
