Hi,
as well explained in other topics the only way to have a booking, even if not yet paid, counted is by flagging it as “approved”.
Unfortunately this method causes problems when reviewing an event: the basic check is matching a booking and its payment status (pending/done).

The perfect scenario/workflow would be:
1. a booking is performed. Delayed payment (let’s say wire transfer, that takes 2 days). This should:
. decrease by 1 the free places count;
. be considered as a pending payment.
In this way I don’t risk to sell places twice (overbooking with payment performed, everybody’s nightmare).
At this point I see that I have 1 booking and 1 pending payment.
2.a when the payment is done I register it (it’s an offline payment).
At this point I see that I have 1 paid booking (and I’m happy).
2.b if the payment is not performed according to my policy I can un-approve the booking and free it for another customer.

When things become more complicated, let’s say 25 booking, 17 of which to be paid, I can easily select only the pending ones and look after them, all the others being already confirmed (and I don’t want them to appear in my list of “bookings to check”).

I believe that the described scenario is common to many EE4 users.
I think that this issue should be given a really high priority.

thank you
Federico

Hi there Federico,

Thanks for sharing feedback on a workflow that will work for you.

Currently, a status of registration approved counts as a spot (e.g. against a limit set on the ticket or datetime) because a status with pending pending does not mean that someone will actually follow through and pay.

I would consider only allowing online payments or using a status of not approved and then manually set a registrant to pending payment which would then allow them to pay.

Hi Lorenzo,
What you say is right, but doesn’t really work.
Here’s why:
1. I accept both online and offline payments (only accepting credit cards here in Italy would be a commercial disaster);
2. If I flag as pending a booking with offline payment and someone books and pay online before I see the first payment , de facto the first customer looses his priority and, assuming this was the last spot available, I have an overbooking and an unhappy customer to be reimbursed.

This is why I really suggest to change as per my first post.
Or maybe adding a new “payment pending with reserved place” option. This shouldn’t be difficult to introduce in the database and would allow every user to choose his preferred scenario.

I really hope you will consider this suggestion, I don’t think I’m he only one with this necessity.

All the best
Federico

Hi Federico,

If it’s not too difficult to add, would you consider adding it and opening a pull request on our Github project?

Hi Josh,
believe me, if I was able to do that I would have already contribute with the coding.
Unfortunately I’m only a humble user, I can contribute (as I already applied for) to the translation of EE4 in Italian.

The reason why I insist with my request is that what I suggest in my experience would make the difference between a good tool and a really useful tool.
The idea is being able to easily match bookings and payments with EE4 selecting all the bookings confirmed with a pending payment (ie. still incomplete). When the payment arrives I flag payment as done (booking complete), if the payment doesn’t arrive according to my instructions I flag is at not done and the place becomes available again.
As the event approaches the screen becomes empty, meaning that everything is ok. If some items still appear this means that some bookings are in trouble (and a recall is necessary).

With hundreds of bookings for many different courses this functionality becomes fundamental to keep everything under control and not loose a lot of money, believe me.

Of course I’m available to help you defining the workflow in detail, but I really hope that there is a solution alternative to me posting the code to Github!

All the best

Josh

Hi Federico,

In that case, you could use the Transactions view, instead of the Registrations view, to monitor the status of payments.
