Is possible to send payment information to a Square virtual terminal. This would allow me to use a square magnetic card reader for reading credit card data. This would be much more efficient method of processing a credit card transaction.

Is it possible; probably. Is it currently supported; no.
Event Espresso is designed for online payments.

Thank you Garth for you quick response. And by possible, would the solution be something like making a custom payment process the uses the virtual terminal api to send the amount. If so, how do I get started looking at creating something like this?

Yes, I think you’re right. You’d have to design a way for Event Espresso to pull in the registration data from the virtual terminal api.
You’ll want to find a developer who is familiar with payment apis to build an add-on that integrates the two systems. That will be somewhat complex and not a cheap endeavor, so be ready. I think people have had a good experience with Codeable.
