Hello, We received a notice on our website that currently is running EE3 (we are working to transition them to EE5 soon). That many discontinued payment integrations are going away. Screenshot: On EE3, we are using Paypal Express and Paypal Payments Pro integrations. Is this notice applicable to only EE3? Or is this applicable to EE4/EE5 also? Please advise, this notice isn’t timely as it’s beginning of the year and we are just hearing of this. Thanks, Andreo |

Hi Andreo, The payment method deprecations apply only to EE4/5+, not EE3. The system we use for plugin updates/notics does not differentiate between EE3/4 version and just adds the notice to any plugin that checks for updates with our license server to cover all bases. Within EE4 PayPal Standard/Express/Pro have all been replaced by PayPal Commerce. EE3 will still show those payment methods as we aren’t making any changes/updates to EE3 (EE3 itself is now considered our legacy product so in effect who whole of EE3 has been deprecated and has been for some time now).
I’m sorry you are only just seeing this but the first notice we put out for this was in October 2024, this isn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision by us 🙂 PayPal Standard has been deprecated for a LONG time within EE4 (years) and now the PayPal Express and Pro payment method integration methods have been deprecated by PayPal themselves. To follow their guidelines we’ve deprecated those payment method in favour of their latest more secure method. |
