I’m looking into setting up EE for swim lessons. One feature we’d very much like is the ability to take downpayments online to hold people’s spot in the class and allow them to pay the remainder in person or online later. I found this page for EE3: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setting-partial-payments-ee/ is this functionality in EE4 or is there an easy way to upgrade the changes to EE4? Thanks |
HI Josh, That functionality does not exist yet for EE4. That will have to be re-written for EE4 by a developer. |

Thanks Garth. I am a developer, so how hard do you think it would be to port over the functionality? |
Hi Josh, I’ll try to get a developer to comment on this for you. |

EE4’s codebase is pretty well entirely different than EE3’s with respect to what you want to do. Our current development branch of EE4.3 supports entering partial payments from the admin and then allowing registrants to pay the rest online using any of the supported payment methods. Maybe we could get you involved in BETA-testing that to get it released sooner? I assume however, that you want registrants to themselves to make the initial partial payment online, and then another payment for the rest. That would mostly require changes to the single page checkout module. However I’m less familiar with that part of the code and can’t give you much instructions on where/what/how to change things in there. Another developer will need to comment on that. |

I’d be interested in testing if possible. Partial Payments (Deposits) are a BIG feature of all transactions in the service sector, folks just don’t always want or are able to make one-off payment when the costs are in £££’s…! People need to be able to make a deposit. Registrants would need to be able to make all the payments though, I can’t see why the payee would make a payment on the registrants behalf..? At the moment I am using EE 4.2 |

I am still researching my options for a book plug-in. This would be a significant tipping factor to my decision. Over half my folks do the partial down option. If it is developed for EE4, will it be included, or is it an add-on with extra cost? |

Another vote for deposit payments asap. I’m currently researching event management for a sports tournament being held early next year. The ticket price is in the four digits, so a deposit for each team is a must. Thanx. |

Also interested in partial payments. I think it is crucial in todays world |

I don’t know yet how it will work, but I am testing out a second type of admission: General Admission In theory it seems like that should work. |

Would you let us know if you manage. I would be thrilled if you came up with something. Not having this functionality has really put a spanner in the site I am developing. I have been thinking through s2member with paypal button for reservation but I would have to then add the person to event espresso manually. This would work but obviously not the best. thanks for letting us know Jeremy |
Hi Jeremy and everyone else, We’ll be sure to update this thread when we have something ready to test. |

Thanks Josh – This is such a needed feature that I have had to drop back to version 3 with a fix Thanks |
Hi everyone, I took another look at this and created two tutorials for handling partial payments or deposits + final payment in Event Espresso 4. This process is not completely automated but it is possible to do in the current version of Event Espresso 4. You can view the ideas here: https://gist.github.com/lorenzocaum/c49bda15961f9f7d19ab — |
