We need the ability to allow customers to make partial payments on event ticket. We can add partial payment as admin. If we apply a deposit made over phone we will apply the amount paid and it will show a remaining balance. How can we activate this option for the public purchasing tickets using credit card?

Hi there,
Currently EE does not support front end partial payments so there is no option to enable this.
There is a couple of options available to work around this, however it will require some admin work for it to work.
You can create multiple tickets within the event, one for the deposit and another for the remaining balance. Then hide each specific event based on the sale dates and have the user re-register onto the full ticket when available.

Or another option is setup something similar to the above have the user register onto the deopsite ticket and apply their payment, then create a new ticket for the remaining balance but use the Attendee Mover Add-on to move the registration from the deposit ticket to final payment and trigger the email notifications to inform them they need to pay.
Would that work?

We have already used this solution you recommended. It has turned in to a management problem. Multiple tickets, multiple payments and customers printing off the wrong tickets for check-in.
What would it cost to have partial payments plugin created?

I can tell you that adding partial payments will take a considerable amount of development/customization to the plugin so note this is not a small project to undertake.
