pain points with multiple tickets or multiple registrants

We have separate tickets for the main conference, the meal plan, cabin lodging etc. EE seems to treat each ticket as a different registrant, so if a person buying multiple tickets for herself, on Checkout page she has to fill in information for “Attendee 1” and “Attendee 2” (Even if we configure no question for additional rregistrant, she will still see the word “Attendee 2”) This has confused our users. Below are the different events/tickets configurations we’ve tried, but none solves the problem fully.

1. Create only one event. Meal plan, cabin etc are all tickets under this one event.
Problem: We want to ask different questions for different tickets (e.g. if a person choose just cabin she should not have to fill in dietary restrictions). But EE doesn’t seem to separate question groups for tickets.

2. Create multiple Events – Meal plan is one event, Cabin another – so that we can associate different questions for each. This is our current setup http://floridaherbalconference.org/events
Problem: Each ticket still increase the number of registrants We’d like to change the wording of “Attendee 1, 2” on Checkout page – Is it possible?

EE 4.7.4 + MER addon.

Hi Emily,

Questions via question groups are on a per-event basis rather than a per-ticket basis.

I can provide a code snippet that will change Attendee to something else — however, this will apply to all events on your site.

Lorenzo, yes please provide code snippet to change “Attendee” to “Ticket”.

DO you have suggestion for a better events/tickets combination, other than the two ways we tried?

Hi Emily,

Please see this example:

https://gist.github.com/lorenzocaum/8c0389264b2931116e9c

Add it to your site through a site specific plugin or your child theme’s functions.php file. Then change Replace Me in the sample coding to something else and save changes.
