Paid events suddenly not connecting to Paypal page or sending email

We have been using Event Espresso – 3.1.20 for a long time with absolutely no issues at all. It’s been seamless and always worked very well. Our free events are still working without issue but as soon as we add a payment to an event it stops working. The confirmation email is not sent and instead of providing users with a paypal button to pay it just gives the following message:
Your registration is not complete until payment is received.
Amount due: A$30.00
Your Registration ID: 55c400c1ad42b1.60938292
A confirmation email has been sent with additional details of your registration.

Since the email is never sent/received there is no way for people to pay. We haven’t changed our site or added plugins or anything like that. We use another plugin that has payment options and it still works. The only change in the last couple of months was an upgrade in hosting.

Any suggestions on what might be going on here greatly appreciated 🙂

Hello, the version that you are currently using is several years old (older than 2012) and I suspect that is contributing to this issue since its not compatible with the current version of WordPress:

The other possible cause is if there are some restrictions on the local email server.

Do other email notifications like password resets for WordPress work?
