Hi,

We have the following page URL showing in our XML sitemap.
ourdomain.com.au/events/my-bookings/

The page does not exist in the site and I cannot find any reference to this page in EE4 however it is in the sitemap and therefore Google is trying to index it and then giving an error as it cannot be found.

Can anyone advise where this page reference originates so I can rectify the crawl error?

Hi there,

That’s not something EE add’s to your site, do you have any other event management plugins installed on the site?

Hi,

No we don’t so I assumed that EE4 was doing it. This is odd.

Do you have any pages in trash? Dashboard -> Pages -> Trash (it’s a filter view at the top of the list)

Check none of those have a ‘my-bookings’ slug as a child of a page with slug ‘events’.

EE uses the ‘events’ slug and it will override a page with that slug, so if you have an ‘events’ page and another as a child with ‘my-bookings’, when you go to /events/my-bookings/ your actually telling WP to look for a post of type espresso_events (events) with slug ‘my-bookings’ which it doesn’t have.

I’ve gone back and had another look and found the EVENTS page (/events) and there is a child page of that with slug /events/my-bookings. I can open it and view it and all it says in the content area is CONTENTS. When I view that page it comes up with a 404 error even though it is in the Pages list.

It’s very odd.

When I view that page it comes up with a 404 error even though it is in the Pages list.

That will happen because of what I posted above.

Anything that goes to /events/{some_slug} now looks for an EE event with the slug provided.

The events page is not being displayed on your site (unless you have altered the EE slug, which it doesn’t sound like you have). You can test that by adding something within the ‘events’ page and viewing /events/ on the front end, you wont see the new content you just added. ITs displaying an archive of EE events, not the events page.

Do you actually want the my bookings page?
