I have put in some general registration information above the Event listings page right above the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] tag.
I want this to display on the event_list_display page only though, but not the Event registration and confirmation pages.

You may want to put that information in the event list template file, instead of in the WordPress content window for that page, since that same page is used for the event list, the registration page, and the confirmation page.
Or alternatively, you could make another page that uses the event list shortcode, and put the information in the WordPress content window for that page, and use that page in your site navigation instead of the page with the espresso_events shortcode.
