Oversold my Event

We had an event with ticket sales starting today at 8:00am and “sold out” by 8:26 am. Looking in the registrations it says I sold 270, but in the event is says 232 sold with 274 regs. When I exported the “approved” for “today” there are 271 that look to me to be paid (aka approved).

Can you explain why all these numbers are different? I had the limit at 250 and I’m afraid I sold 21 (or so??) too many, and don’t have room for all the extra people.

Help.

Hi there,

274 registrations is the total number of registrations and isn’t necessarily the total number of registrations where they completed payment. So for example if someone fills out the registration form but stops there and does not pay, it’s counted as a registration, but not counted as a sold ticket. That’s why the two numbers are different.

With regards to the 270 number, is that the number for Approved registrations? Also, is the Multi Event Registration add-on activated on the site?

multi-event is on, but this time there was only 1 event selling tickets.

The “events” page in EE says 270, and the csv export has 271. I’m concerned with selling 20 or 21 too many tickets.

Is this number so high because there were so many buying (registered and in the cart already) at the same time when it’s flipped to “sold out”?

Why can’t it decline transactions after the 250th is approved?

It normally can decline transactions if the Multi Event Registration add-on isn’t activated. As it stands right now the Multi Event Registration add-on works differently than the standard registration process though where they add the tickets to the cart, and once those tickets are in the cart, they’re in. So the extra twenty or so tickets were in the cart before the 230th registration was approved. Which isn’t really a stretch considering the event sold out in 26 minutes.

If you deactivate the Multi Event Registration add-on that will prevent future events from overselling.
