I am trying to place pricing.php in a “safe” place, so that future upgrades do not over write my edits. I moved the file from
/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/includes/functions/pricing.php
TO
/wp-content/uploads/espresso/includes/functions/pricing.php
deactivated and reactivated Event Espresso plugin. Changes to the file in “uploads” do not take affect.
Please advise where I should keep this file for safety.

Hey Jill,
Not all the files in Event Espresso can be overridden in this manner. Generally it is only the template files though some others can be too. Unfortunately pricing.php is not one of them.
If you have to make amendments to this file it is advised to back up the file either offline or in the cloud
