I have a site structure like:
Category -> Location -> List of events

When clicking on one of the events it goes to the single event details page. However, the event is always a child of events.

Is there a possibility to open the event on the same site from where it was linked? Thus, the user will not get confused with the navigation.

Hello,
The flow of the registration would be to take an attendee/registrant towards the single event page as that page has the pricing option selector on it.
The other option is to use the following shortcode with the event categories parameter:
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-shortcodes-template-variables/#event-category-listings
…where each location and sport is a category. Then you could update the template settings to show the pricing option selector from Event Espresso –> Events –> Templates.
Once that has been changed, then a registrant/attendee could register from the event listing page directly.

The first option you mention is the one already implemented.
The second one just avoids the single event page. It is like fighting the symptoms but not the cause.
Could you please tell me which site template the single event page uses.
In the venue details, I can chose which site template to use. What is the site template for the sites:
single event site
payment site
etc.

The single event page uses the single.php template from your theme as its template. The payment page uses the page.php template from your theme.
