Odd error message when software tries to handle payment (maybe?)

Hi! I managed to make Event Espresso work for me in the past (last July.) But now that I try it (after upgrading WP 3.5 & upgrading Event Espresso.)

I’m able to create an event. A user can enter their data but when it goes to hand-off to paypal (i think.) you get the following error:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/content/a/l/l/allthingsfun/html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-free/includes/functions/attendee_functions.php on line 24

I’m not much of a techie. But I was able to make this work before. (So I’m almost certain it’s something I’ve done wrong.) 🙂

Any advice would be welcome!

Thanks,

-Ed

Hi Ed,

The code line mentioned is regarding question groups. Have you set up/changed/deleted anything in respect to questions or question groups?

Can you also try deactivating and reactivating the plugin just to refresh the database structure.

Thank you for the reply. I haven’t done anything with the questions. But based on your advice I did try unchecking the “address” box. (No change same error.) Then I deactivated and reactivated and still no change. Alas I’m stuck.

Other than upgrading both Event Espresso and WordPress I haven’t made any changes. (I haven’t even added any new plug-ins.)

Any other advice? 🙂

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ed,

I tried to have a look at the events to see if I could pinpoint the issue but you dont seem to have EE installed – is it on a subdomain or another url?

Hello Tony,

What version of Event Espresso and WordPress are you using? Do you have a link to the error in question?

Hi there, thanks for getting back to me so fast

WordPress 3.5 latest Espresso Lite (event-espresso-free.3.1.29.1.L) , downloaded yesterday and link is http://www.aps.net.nz/event-registration/ there’s only one event added

Testing for now and will happily buy if I can get it working 😀

Hi,

Well there must be some sort of conflict running, I have a test server running that version and WP 3.5 and it has no issues.

I did notice you were running Jetpack. Could you try de-activating Jetpack and retry the registration? We have had numerous issues with that plugin of late.

If you don’t wish to de-activate the full plugin you can try just turning off the Publicize and Sharing modules.

If that doesnt work then I can only assume it has something to do with the Questions/Question Groups as that is what the code relates to. Without being able to see the backend of a site it’s hard to pinpoint especially as I cant recreate it on the free or premium version (the free plugin uses the same codebase as the premium)

ok that makes a big difference. Now it works but the emailed invoice is having a problem. I’ll have a play and report back where I get as i dont even want an invoice an dit looks like a setup issue.

Hi Tony,

So it was Jetpack that was to blame?

The free (lite) version of the plugin only comes with one payment gateway available to it, PayPal. It looks like the default admin email hasn’t been changed to reflect this in the free version so it is still showing a link to an invoice the plugin cant produce as the invoice gateway isnt available

The customers dont get a link to the invoice by default though.

yes jetpack was the problem. Im not really using it so i turn it all off.

So how can i edit the default admin email?

p.s. I set it to send a custom email and I am getting both – i only want it for free but figure you want feed back on both

sorry just to clarify I want it for FREE events so I want to remove any reference to an invoice

Hi Tony,

The default admin email cannot currently be edited (though we have a development ticket in place requesting that feature). The clients dont get the email with the invoice link by default.

You can change the Payment Confirmation and Registration confirmation emails in the General Settings.

In the Premium version you can create individual emails which can be attached to an individual event which will over rule the defaults, allowing more flexibility.

so if i buy premium version i can swap this email for one with out the invoice link? As it stabnds the lite version is sending the link and then members click the link and get an error

Hi Tony,

Sorry if I am not explaining myself clearly, the default email that goes to the customer is like this http://d.pr/i/bJ3r.

It doesnt contain the invoice link by default.

The one with the invoice link goes to the admin only http://d.pr/i/URTb

I have raised a developer ticket to get that link removed in future versions.

OK I understand now, as I tested as myself (admin) I got both emails. Just tried using a user account and they only get the informal custom event email – awesome! thanks for all your help working great !!
