Now on a better server – need EE Tech's changes undone

Hello,
We moved our site to greener pastures and they now fully support WP and EE for speed and compatibility. Whew!

About a month ago we requested help with reports that wouldn’t export and problems with the convert to .pdf function for receipts. Here is the link to our support ticket: https://eventespresso.com/topic/error-registration-csv-report-and-users-registration-reciept-view-php-warning/

And this is one of the changes described by Josh (who is excellent, by the way):
“The CSV report tool is switched over to use the older CSV report class, so you’ll be able to do reports now. Your server isn’t allowing temporary files to be written to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/batch_temp_folder. If the server can be configured to allow WordPress to write to that file, we can switch it back to use the newer CSV report class.

The PDF issue appears to be related to using a Windows server. I can try removing the CSS that gets applied to the Receipt to see if that will help. If it doesn’t, then we’ll probably need to disable PDF generation for now.”

Can you rest our settings so we can do filtered csv reports and create .pdf copies of the receipts?
Thanks,
HK

Hi there,

For security reasons we don’t keep login details for any longer than needed, once your issue is resolved they are removed.

I can remove the above changes from the site for you if you can resend the login details using this form:

Hi there,

The changes made should now have been reversed, I tested the reg export and downloading a PDF and it appears to be working as expected.

Can you confirm on your end, please?

Hi there,

Just checking in to confirm if you had a chance to see if EE is now working how you expected?

Hi Tony,
Sorry I was traveling all last week and couldn’t work on the website.

Thank you for rolling back the .pdf capability. It is working fine now!

I ran a test of the filtered csv report function and it did not pull a report for the registrations that I filtered and checked in my registrations dashboard. It gave the same “All reports” csv file as before. Is there something I’m missing on my end to get the filtered reports?

Thanks for your help,
HK

It doesn’t filter the ‘checked’ registrations.

It basically applies the same filters you have on the list, so for example if you select a specific status of ticket and click filter – http://take.ms/1vIag

Then click the Filtered CSV Report button – http://take.ms/o6tAL

It will export all of the registrations currently shown in the list (In my example that’s all registrations with a status of cancelled).

So may I ask what steps you took to test the filters registrations?

Looking at your examples, I tried it again without ticking all of the filtered registrants. I then opened the .csv that downloaded and saw that it was the same registrations-for-all.csv file the system keeps exporting, instead of a reduced .csv showing only the filtered registrants.

Am I trying to filter too much by selecting a specific event, “Marketplace”, plus the status, “Approved”?

No that should work fine.

Can you post a step by step of what you are doing in the admin?

1- Go to Registrations in EE and view all of the registrants and their tickets.
2- Click on Categories and select Marketplace then
3- Click on Select Status and select Approved
4- Click on the Filter button
5- View all of the Approved Marketplace registrants
6- Click on the Filter CSV Report button
7- A “registrations for all.csv” file downloads to my Downloads folder
8- I sigh, “not again”.

Are you sure you’ve given me the correct FTP details?

Usually we remove your login details straight after we have finished with them, however I still had yours saved in my vault so had another look. The FTP details provided give me access to a site that currently has Event Espresso 4.9.67.p where as the WP-Admin credentials you sent have Event Espresso 4.9.68.p installed.

Are you sure those credentials are not for the old server rather than the new one?

(I followed the steps you provided and can see the site is still using the ‘old’ CSV method)

I will set up a new FTP account and see if that shows the correct file structure. If that doesn’t work I’ll call my hosting company. They did the migration and set up of the new control panel.

Stand by…
Thanks for sticking with me on this.

I have three questions for refining our registration process.
1- Do you have a tutorial on setting up if-then registrations?

Our registrants need to select from 1 of our 2 event registrations before they can select class event tickets and/or Marketplace event ticket.

2- Will the plug-in WP User Integration stop our registrants from selecting more than one ticket per event day/time? If not, do you have a tutorial on setting this up?

We have a problem with some users selecting a Thursday day class then they come back to the site on a different day and select another Thursday day class. We need to be able to stop them from selecting (purchasing) more than one class (date-time)/event registration (type 1 or 2)/Marketplace event ticket.

3- Do we need the Formidable Forms and Formidable Registration plug-ins to run EE?

Our previous developer set this system up, but Formidable Forms failed on 15 Aug and I installed the Caldera Forms for our 3 contact forms and don’t trust Formidable anymore.

Thanks,
HK

1- Do you have a tutorial on setting up if-then registrations?

We do not.

Currently, Event Espresso does not support conditional registrations (allowing registrations based on X condition) so if this is vital for you events you’ll likely need some custom development.

Can you explain your requirement a little further please?

You have 2 events to register on, and there where are the tickets you mentioned after that, in both events?

2- Will the plug-in WP User Integration stop our registrants from selecting more than one ticket per event day/time? If not, do you have a tutorial on setting this up?

Again, we do not.

The WP User integration will not ‘police’ the registrations and prevent them from registering onto X event etc, you’ll need some custom development from a developer for that.

3- Do we need the Formidable Forms and Formidable Registration plug-ins to run EE?

EE has its own forms system for the registrations, you do not need any of those plugins for EE.

Thanks for the answers.
3- I will get rid of all of the Formidable products on my site then.

1- One event has sub tickets attached to it because it is a base fee, but those registrants must also choose and pay for access tickets on the days they are attending. After discussions with our registration person, we may overhaul how we do the next conference and have just one main event registration fee to prevent the confusion we saw this year and last year.

Our set up is complicated because our registrants must choose 1 paid ticket for overall registration, then they must select the class event tickets ($0 – to be paid later by check), then select optional paid tickets for merchandise and/or Marketplace. I have UX’d the crud out of the pages leading to the registration, but some non-readers would skip step 1 of selecting a main registration type then choose only classes and not pay anything. Our registration person combs the list of registrations then notifies the non-readers to come back and pay.

2-I will have to go to the Board of Directors to get funding for customization, but I totally think it is worth it to stop the problems we’ve had this year.

Thanks again.
Let me know when the csv function is reversed on the EE files on the new server.

Let me know when the csv function is reversed on the EE files on the new server.

Done, you can now skip step 8 🙂

Note when you click the CSV report button you’ll see the ‘batch’ process rather than just the file instantly start downloading, that’s how you know you are using the ‘new’ CSV system.

PHENOMENAL!

You are golden! Our Conference Registration person will think she’s died and gone to heaven. So glad the sighing can now end for gathering reports. 🙂

Thanks very much for all of your help – and patience!
