Nothing happens when updating database

I tried several times to update EE4 through the WordPress admin, but it kept failing. Instead I uploaded the files directly to the server.

However EE is now in complete maintenance mode until the database has been updated. I have taken a backup and go in and click update – then nothing happens.

Please see this screenshot. It will stay like that forever:

I have tried to deactivate all other plugins and reset file permissions (if that even has an influence).

Hi Alexander,

What you can do that will help is you deactivate EE, then delete the event espresso plugin folder from the /plugins folder, then upload a fresh zip file to your WordPress plugins page using the plugin installer. Then you add the following to your wp-config.php file:


You add the above to the file before the line where it says to stop editing, then save. Then after that you can restart the migration.
