Not receiving confirmation emails…

I have created a test event and signed myself up for it several times. I have yet to receive a single confirmation email to the account I signed up under. Even though the message on the screen says it’s been sent. Even when I go in to the attendee list and resend the registration info, nothing happens. What could be going wrong? Here is the event I am trying to register for. http://medicinepath.org/event-registration/?regevent_action=register&event_id=1
I’d also like to know how I can change the font to match the website font…
Thank you!

Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this?

If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/contact/

Choose the “I am sending login info as requested” option and fill out the form

The CSS is currently being over-ridden by a CSS stylesheet from your Custom Contact Form plugin (jquery-ui.css)

Hi Dean,
I deleted the Custom Contact Form plugin. I wasn’t using it anyway. I tried again and still no confirmation emails…I did send the login details via the contact form.
Thank you!

Hi Dean,
Any ideas? I’m super frustrated. I deleted the event, created a new one, disabled all other plugins…can’t seem to figure out why I haven’t received a single registration or confirmation email.
Help!
Thanks!

Hi Jeff, what host are you using? We are trying to track down this issue.

Hi

Thanks for sending the login details. I couldn’t see anything major, though I changed your email address in the WordPress general settings as it was showing the wrong extension( .com ).

As such, is it possible that you could find and send your Sent Email Logs from the server to support@eventespresso.com

Hi Jonathan & Dean,
The host is BlueHost.com. MedicinePath.org is an addon domain to an account I have with them. The emails to @medicinepath.org are set up through GoDaddy.com Could that be effecting it?
Can you give me more information on how I would attain the Sent email logs from the server?
Thank you!

Update: The hosting & emails are with GoDaddy. The IP address is pointed to my account with BlueHost where I have installed WP. Would that create this issue?

Hi Jeff,

It could be an issue yes, normally the host provides the email service, but it depends on how GoDaddy have set it up as you can have email away form the host as well.

Re: server logs. If the email is via GoDaddy then you will be best off speaking to them regarding it.

@jeff
Are you able to send any email at from your website? Such as a contact from? If not, it could be that Godaddy is not letting you send un-authenticated emails from the their server. If that is the case, then it is not really a problem with the Event Espresso plugin, it is a problem with Godaddy. However, they will most likely tell you it is a problem with your website, or the plugin, or any number of other things…basically they could care less. Or they might actually help. You never know with Godaddy. In my years of experience with them, they were unhelpful 90% of the time, if they replied to my support requests.

So, that being said. You will need to authenticate the emails that are being sent from the server. We can try to install an SMTP plugin that will authenticate the emails, via Godaddy, that are being sent form the server. If they still are not sending, then you may have to register a Gmail account so that we can authenticate the emails using Gmail’s servers. Totally bypassing Godaddy and Bluehost.

Registering a Gmail account is my most favorable option. Is that a possibility?

Yes, the contact forms work. I just spoke with GoDaddy and they said that the server name that the emails need to send through is as follows:

relay-hosting.secureserver.net

Can you help with this?

If we ended up using a gmail address, where would we register it? We do have a gmail account medicinepathnac@gmail.com.

Also, what do I need to do to get the plugin to work? Delete it and re-install? When I try to activate it there is a fatal error.

Yes, delete the old plugin and download and install the new version.

Regarding the email:

What contact form are you using? Was it installed prior to Event Espresso? Sometimes contact form plugins will conflict with Event Espresso, especially contact forms that are integrated with themes. Because they end up overriding the WordPress function wp_mail, therefore making it impossible for other plugins or scripts to send email using that function.

If you can deactivate the contact form and test a registration. That might help.

I also recommend using the WP Mail SMTP plugin for sending authenticated emails from the server.

Here is how to set it up with Gmail.

Use these settings:

  1. Mailer: SMTP
  2. SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com
  3. SMTP Port: 465
  4. Encryption: SSL
  5. Authentication: Yes
  6. Username: your full gmail address
  7. Password: your mail password

The only contact form is via MailChimp to join our email list.

I just re-did it because it wasn’t working, but I think that it may have been because Jeff deleted the MailChimp list it was attached to today.

So the emails are not actually coming from the server if it is a Mailchimp form. The information is just being posted to Mailchimp, then Mailchimp sends the emails from their servers.

Jeff Wright

what would be an example of an email coming from the server?
I guess we don’t have any contact forms then.

I just installed that wp-mail-smtp plugin. I tested it and the test didn’t work. ugh.

I’m going to call it a night. I am willing to give this 1 more try tomorrow, but I am so frustrated at this point that I am going to research other options.
Thanks for all your help.

Ya, something is definitely wrong with the server then. That SMTP plugin usually works for me, when sending test emails.

I just tested the SMTP plugin and got this error:

The SMTP debugging output is shown below:
SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server: Connection timed out (110)

Looks like your server cannot connect to the email server.

You should probably contact Bluehost and see if they can help you get the email working. Looks like it might be something on their end.
