I have created a test event and signed myself up for it several times. I have yet to receive a single confirmation email to the account I signed up under. Even though the message on the screen says it’s been sent. Even when I go in to the attendee list and resend the registration info, nothing happens. What could be going wrong? Here is the event I am trying to register for. http://medicinepath.org/event-registration/?regevent_action=register&event_id=1 |

Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this? If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/contact/ Choose the “I am sending login info as requested” option and fill out the form The CSS is currently being over-ridden by a CSS stylesheet from your Custom Contact Form plugin (jquery-ui.css) |

Hi Dean, |
September 13, 2012 at 10:34 pm Hi Jeff, what host are you using? We are trying to track down this issue. |

September 14, 2012 at 12:05 am Hi Thanks for sending the login details. I couldn’t see anything major, though I changed your email address in the WordPress general settings as it was showing the wrong extension( .com ). As such, is it possible that you could find and send your Sent Email Logs from the server to support@eventespresso.com |

September 17, 2012 at 12:18 pm Hi Jonathan & Dean, |

September 17, 2012 at 10:38 pm Update: The hosting & emails are with GoDaddy. The IP address is pointed to my account with BlueHost where I have installed WP. Would that create this issue? |
|
September 18, 2012 at 12:37 am Hi Jeff, It could be an issue yes, normally the host provides the email service, but it depends on how GoDaddy have set it up as you can have email away form the host as well. Re: server logs. If the email is via GoDaddy then you will be best off speaking to them regarding it. |
@Jeff So, that being said. You will need to authenticate the emails that are being sent from the server. We can try to install an SMTP plugin that will authenticate the emails, via Godaddy, that are being sent form the server. If they still are not sending, then you may have to register a Gmail account so that we can authenticate the emails using Gmail’s servers. Totally bypassing Godaddy and Bluehost. Registering a Gmail account is my most favorable option. Is that a possibility? |

September 18, 2012 at 10:07 pm Yes, the contact forms work. I just spoke with GoDaddy and they said that the server name that the emails need to send through is as follows: relay-hosting.secureserver.net Can you help with this? If we ended up using a gmail address, where would we register it? We do have a gmail account medicinepathnac@gmail.com. |
|
September 18, 2012 at 10:16 pm Also, what do I need to do to get the plugin to work? Delete it and re-install? When I try to activate it there is a fatal error. |
September 18, 2012 at 10:17 pm Yes, delete the old plugin and download and install the new version. |
|
September 18, 2012 at 10:20 pm Regarding the email: What contact form are you using? Was it installed prior to Event Espresso? Sometimes contact form plugins will conflict with Event Espresso, especially contact forms that are integrated with themes. Because they end up overriding the WordPress function wp_mail, therefore making it impossible for other plugins or scripts to send email using that function. If you can deactivate the contact form and test a registration. That might help. |

September 18, 2012 at 10:24 pm I also recommend using the WP Mail SMTP plugin for sending authenticated emails from the server. Here is how to set it up with Gmail. Use these settings:

September 18, 2012 at 10:33 pm The only contact form is via MailChimp to join our email list. I just re-did it because it wasn’t working, but I think that it may have been because Jeff deleted the MailChimp list it was attached to today. |
September 18, 2012 at 10:36 pm So the emails are not actually coming from the server if it is a Mailchimp form. The information is just being posted to Mailchimp, then Mailchimp sends the emails from their servers. |

September 18, 2012 at 10:43 pm what would be an example of an email coming from the server? I just installed that wp-mail-smtp plugin. I tested it and the test didn’t work. ugh. |
|
September 18, 2012 at 10:50 pm I’m going to call it a night. I am willing to give this 1 more try tomorrow, but I am so frustrated at this point that I am going to research other options. |
September 18, 2012 at 10:51 pm Ya, something is definitely wrong with the server then. That SMTP plugin usually works for me, when sending test emails. |
|
September 18, 2012 at 10:55 pm I just tested the SMTP plugin and got this error:
Looks like your server cannot connect to the email server. |
|
September 18, 2012 at 11:00 pm You should probably contact Bluehost and see if they can help you get the email working. Looks like it might be something on their end. |

September 18, 2012 at 11:04 pm Maybe this will help: |
