I might be overlooking something silly here – but ok let’s say we have an event set up to run for three dates in March. Then we want to add more dates for the event in April. If I go in and add the events to the recurring events list – it updates all the events in the series to the same venue and same early bird discount dates.

Should I be using duplicate instead? or is there a way around this that I am not seeing?

thanks

Hi Ann,

If you have done a manual recurring event, then yes you would need to duplicate the event and then manually amend it (event dates etc) If there are numerous additional events, you may want to start a new recurring event.

If the event is automatic, then changing the last event date and checking the algorythym is correct will work fine.

Bear in mind recurring events will always be duplicates of the first unless you manually edit them, its merely an easy way to create tens or hundreds of regular events.

Hu… so if you want to change one detail, i.e. the time, on all instances of a specific scheduled recurring event, you would have to change each instance independently… That seems a bit time consuming.

Hi Ann,

No, if the information is the same you can do it on one, select the “All events in the series ” option and update them all at once.

However, I think I may have misunderstood you. If you have dates in March and April and you want to update different aspects (so some have one venue and other later events have a different venue), you can go to the first date where the changes take place, amend the details and select “This and all upcoming events.” and update.

If you are trying to add new dates in, you will need to first amend the original event and expand the dates, and then you would need go to the appropriate date and amend the details (venue etc).

Though it is a two step system, it stops events from duplicating incorrectly.

It’s the same for both manual and automatic recurring events.
