I assume you mean the registration confirmation emails sent to the attendee?
If so, and you have not modified the default emails in any way, it should work just fine.
The line from the default emails that sends the date/time data is this
<p>This event starts at [start_time] on [start_date] and runs until [end_time] on [end_date].</p>
If you have modified the emails, either in the General Settings, Email Manager or Individual Event (yes lots of places to change things) then you will need to double check that you have the correct shortcodes in the email and that they are formatted correctly.
