Hey, I’m having a case similar to these three:
https://eventespresso.com/topic/payment-status-showing-as-declined-incomplete-but-payment-posting-to-paypal/
https://eventespresso.com/topic/paypal-pro-no-response-received-from-paypal-pro-3/
https://eventespresso.com/topic/registartion-is-not-recognizing-payments-or-sending-registartion-emails/

Customers are being charged multiple times, but they are not getting registration confirmations.

What could be causing this? It started about 4 days ago.

Hi there,

Are you hosted with GoDaddy and using PayPal Pro?

If so it’s likely the same issue as the above threads and something GoDaddy need to fix on their servers (although they are currently just blaming the plugin rather than investigating the issue).

If you are using the above I can run a test script on the site to confirm if it is the same issue if you can send me FTP credentials using this form:

Hey! Thank you for responding.

Yes and yes, hosted by GoDaddy and using PayPal Pro. Contacted both already.

Filling out the form now.

Yeah, this looks like the same issue.

The short of it is, EE sends a cURL request that with the payment details etc to PayPal and expects a response back from PayPal. Randomly that request is returning simply nothing…. not even a ‘failed’ message just ‘false’ which is of no use at all. When that happens the cURL request is erroring with error 28 (again I can also see that in your payment logs) but the kicker is… the request actually went though. PayPal processed it and returned a response yet cURL times out so EE has no idea it has happened.

GoDaddy state there is nothing wrong their end, yet this is only happening on GoDaddy servers so far.

As it stands I can’t find the cause and have tried various things to try and ‘fix’, none worked. So right now the answer is to move away from GoDaddy or use a different payment provider such as Stripe.
