All files are uploaded on the server, including the gateways directory in Event Espresso, which I uploaded and deleted twice – verified present. When I go into payment settings, this is all I see: http://screencast.com/t/zDkkcCLBWqx Nothing! Please advise! |
Check the /wp-content/uploads/espresso/gateways directory for older files. Rename this directory so the core gateway files will load up. |

Followed your directions with no success. Deactivated then reactivated the plugin – the directory noted above was created again, but with nothing in it. The problem remains. |
Were there older files in the uploads/espresso/gateways directory before? Try uploading and activating a fresh copy of Event Espresso. Be sure to deactivate the one that is installed right now first. |
I am in the process of deleting and reinstalling! I’ll check back when the files are finished uploading. Thanks! |
Oh, and sorry I forgot to answer your question. No, there were directories but no files. Permissions are set to 755. |
The issue persists. I can’t spend much longer on this with no solution. |
I also deactivated all plugins, then reactivated only Event Espresso with no add-ons and got the same screen. |
Try copying one of the folders for the gateways that you were using before into /wp-content/uploads/espresso/gateways from the fresh copy of the plugin. |

I never used any gateways. I downloaded the trial to check out the interface and that’s it. As I said, that directory was empty. I uploaded two gateways from the gateway, deactivated then reactivated the plugin, and still nothing. Here’s the remote of my files http://screencast.com/t/bESMq75rTvZW |
Hi Lindsay, That’s likely the issue, the database may have not been updated correctly when it was updated from the free version to the paid version. If you drop the event espresso tables in the database, and re-activate the plugin, that should fix it. |
Ah. I’ll check it out and report back! Thank you. |
Can you tell me what the database is called that I need to drop? I don’t want to erase something I need. |
Instead of dropping them, you could go into the wp_options table and do a search for event_espresso_active_gateways in the option name column: |

Hello! Sorry for the delay, but I haven’t had time to mess with this at all until now. My database values for the item above were identical. I deleted the option and activated the plugin and I still have no payment gateways. I would like to check into getting a refund on my purchase, as I still have not been able to utilize this system. |
Hi Lindsay, I’m not authorized to process refunds. I’d like to help you get this working, is that possible? If so, please send WordPress admin level log in credentials + FTP access credentials via the contact form on this page: https://eventespresso.com/contact/ Select the “I am sending login info as requested” department form. For refund requests, select the “Sales/Billing” department form. |
Yes, of course. I’ll do that now. |
It looks like what’s going on is inbound connections are being blocked. It possible that another plugins set up some .htaccess rules, or the server is configured to block the news widget, and the payment settings page (and several of the other settings pages) cannot load the content, and might be throwing a fatal error at that point. I tried to set the wp-debug to true to get more information, but it looks like the FTP access is read only. I’m fairly certain that if you can open up the port on the server to allow the connection from the Event Espresso website, this should start working. This will not only affect the settings pages, but will most likely affect the payment gateway instant payment notification when you do get payments set up. If the payment processor cannot send info to the site, the payment notification will not be able to update the registration status. |
The FTP access I sent is what I use to edit the site, so it’s definitely not read-only. Do you have more information on which port needs to be opened, etc.? |
Maybe you’ll be able to edit wp-config.php then. I keep getting a permission denied error. I just noticed an out of memory error on another admin page, so while you are in wp-config.php, you can try setting the memory limit higher. Try setting it to 64MB as outlined here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP |
Figured out the permissions issue, which helped lead to a temporary solution. The From the Blog widget was crashing when it tried to download the feed. There was a fatal Out of memory error that was thrown when it tried to load up the widget. |

September 12, 2012 at 12:51 pm Josh – I just got back to checking on this issue. The entire /courses/ section of the site is dead now, along with the back end. Any idea what happened? I haven’t logged in since last we spoke, so please tell me exactly what was edited. |
did you edit a plugin? I renamed the plugins folder and voila – it’s back up. I really need to know what you did. |
