Hi Support Team, We are experiencing the same behaviour as in this support thread: BUT, we don’t have Easy Contact Forms installed. We are using Jetpack Contact Forms, and I have tried turning that off/on to see if it solved the problem. It didn’t. This started happening on the 12th, and not sure what changes were made. WordPress Version: |
Hi Brad, Do regualr email notifications from WordPress work as expected? For example password resets or new user confirmations, you could install a plugin such as Check Email and use that to send a test email to confirm if this is working. Also if you create a test event with a free ticket and register onto that are the emails sent? If you create that above test event and include the link here I’ll run a test registration there (you can set the event far into the future to keep it away from view of your visitors if you prefer) |

Hi Tony, Yes, all other notifications, including registration confirmations to the event registrants are working appropriately. I have created the free test event, and get the same results. No registration summary is sent to the default email info@uncorkedcanvas.com. Here’s where you can try it: https://uncorkedcanvas.com/event-registration/?ee=1536 Brad Slusher |
Hi Brad, I sent a registration through for your test event but did not receive a notification email. Earlier you mentioned that was working:
It is possible that is may be temporarily delayed. Is the email that you mentioned an actual email inbox or does it forward to a personal email (e.g. different email address)? — |
That’s interesting. Our customers have been getting their confirmations, and my test sign-up worked fine. The info@uncorkedcanvas.com email address is direct, and does not forward. |
Hi Brad, Can you try sending the admin email to an alternate email address that uses a different ISP? The ISP might be blocking this email which would prevent it from even ending up in the spam folder. |
Hi Brad, I wanted to share some additional feedback on this. I received the attendee/registrant email this morning at shortly before 1:30am eastern time so it was certainly delayed. http://cl.ly/image/1B0n3f3w1W1q You might consider using a transactional email service like Postmark app, MailGun, Mandrill, Sendgrid, etc. These services will take over sending emails on your site and they deliver fairly quickly: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/ Postmark app offers an initial 25,000 emails for free. Other services like Sendgrid offer a few thousand each month for free. — |

Hi Lorenzo, Not sure why your confirmation email was delayed so much. We use Sendgrid for our newsletter via MailPoet, but the standard PHP mail send agent has worked fine up until now for the 30-50 event registrations we get per day. Immateraial to that, the registration summaries that should be triggered with every registrations have not been sent since the 12th. Every other email job seems to be working fine. |
Hi Brad, Is Sendgrid setup just for MailPoet or is it setup for the general WordPress site? — |
Just MailPoet. Standard WordPress (wp) mail for everything else. And as I’ve said, all other notifications are going out just fine – only this ONE registration summary is no longer being sent, which is why I continue to think it’s an EventEspresso issue. Was there an update to the core that went out on the 12th/13th? |
The 12th/13th of this month? No there has been no updates to EE3 core since the 7th Oct. You’ll find the EE3 Changelog here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/change-log/ Can you install a plugin such as WP Mail Logging and use that to confirm if the email is actually being triggered or not please. Just activate that plugin and run a test registration, then look within the log and see if you can find an email to both the registrant and the admin? |
Hi Brad, I had a look at the Sendgrid pricing page and they offer a free tier up to 12,000 emails per month. I would definitely look into setting up Sendgrid for your entire site through a WordPress plugin. MailPoet recommends (https://www.mailpoet.com/email-service-providers/) using a transactional email service because they specialize in email delivery. As Tony shared, we haven’t changed how Event Espresso 3 handles emails and it relies on wp_mail and the local email server. — |

Tony, I installed the WP Mail Logging plug-in, and according to the log, the notification email is getting issued – so dying somewhere between getting issued, and being sent to info@uncorkedcanvas.com email (hosted on Google). Next step will be to leverage sendgrid to see if that works as an intermediary. |
Well that’s delightful. The notifications just magically started back up today. No explanation as to why, and I did’t change anything. Who said computers were a labor savings device? |
Hi Brad, I’m glad it’s working 🙂 It sounds like an issue with the mailserver although I’m not sure what it would be. I would recommend sending your emails through SendGrid or Mandrill if the issue comes up again, they are often much more reliable than your hosts mailserver. |
