Nightmares with EE4 (too numerous to select only one)

I’m having a hell of a time trying to customize EE4 messages. I did a test transaction, and it sent me an email that I can’t find a compatible template for. Not sure how that’s even possible, but that’s where I am. I also can’t find a way to put a description on an event registration page, so I can tell them they WON’T receive a ticket – after I found out that there’s no custom tickets in EE4. I’ve looked for days for some helpful video tutorial walkthroughs somewhere on the net, but there are only short videos saying “Event Espresso is great!”, or videos by people who’ve customized some site for their company and they’re using features I don’t need.

I’m struggling here – and I have an event in a week and a half. Is there a resource or site where I can find some specific EE4 tutorials? I already know about the documentation page, but it wasn’t that helpful for finding specific answers. Any help?

Hi Hermann,

What are you trying to change in the messages system?

If this was a free registration, then that message type would be the registration approved message type for the registrant:

Event Espresso –> Messages –> Registration Approved. There are multiple recipients but you’ll want to click on Registrant:

Hi Lorenzo – it’s Shawn, on behalf of Hermann.

I know where the templates are, but the content of the email I received doesn’t follow any of those templates. We’ve moved past that problem anyway by placing some specific text on the page before you hit registration, hoping people catch it there. I’m finding, generally a growing list of things that either don’t display on the site, or a complete lack of access to how it displays at all. I can’t even find a place to change the “Register now” button to something else (different colour and verbiage).

I’m a bit stuck, what to do next.

Hi Shawn,

Each message type has multiple contexts, each of these contexts are independent of each other, you can read more on this here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/messages-system-working-with-message-contexts/

The email you have received, was this to the admin or registrant? Have you altered the default registration status for the events?

A tutorial on changing the Register Now verbiage is available here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/customize-checkout-registration-button-text/

Altering the colour is done using CSS but will depend on which styles are being applied by your sites theme already.

If you can provide more specific info on what you would like to change we can point you as to where/how.
