We are trying to decide between using MailChimp or the Newsletter template, but the Newsletter template is missing.
– using Version 4.9.35.p
– under Event Espresso, Messages, Settings there are no inactive types
– under Default Message Templates I have 17 message types available but none of them are Newsletter

So basically Newsletter is now called Batch? Sigh. Guess your online documentation needs some updating! I was able to find this and that it recommends using MailChimp, which also helps answer the “which should be use” question

I went back and checked my browser history. The information I had found was in the Forums (with no link back to the documentation, where I would have found the more recent/updated info).

You’ll find the most up-to-date information in the Documentation. The forums can have out of date information because the information in the forum replies is applicable to the version of the software at the time of writing.
