Hi. We had been using the WordPress User Integration plugin but were having too many problems so deactivated it. We did have it set so a new user was created when a user signed up for an event, and this was through the WordPress User Integration plugin. User registration is not enabled on our website. The last three people who signed up for an event registered as new users of our website. I can’t figure out how this could be happening.

Hi,
If you check the WP > Plugins page is the WP User Integration still deactivated? Also, are there any custom plugins or functions added to the theme’s functions.php file that use the wp_create_user() function? If so, that may be how this is happening.

Thanks Josh. No wp_create_user() in the theme’s functions file. I did have a plugin called Members by Justin Tadlock that is a user management plugin. Maybe it is this one? I will deactivate it and do a test registration.

The Members plugin wouldn’t by itself create user accounts based on registrations from Event Espresso. The thing to look for would be any custom plugins either activated on the WP Plugins page, or plugins within the mu-plugins folder.

I don’t have a mu-plugin’s folder and I can’t see any custom plugins on the WP Plugins page. Maybe a remnant of the WP User Integration is still running somehow and did not get deactivated? Would it make a difference if I deleted the WP User Integration instead of just deactivating it?

I don’t know how that would be possible.

It probably will not make a difference but at least you’ll know for sure that WP User Integration is not activated if it’s been deleted.
