Hi, we are using EE3 with up to date subscriptions. Today, suddenly, the Add New Event page has a whole bunch of “start Times” 1 through 5 with the same time slots pre-filled out, and also Pricing stuff changed and it now has “Event Price” filled out and a price of $40 in 5 different prices. Pre-completed in the form.

WHY? Please help. We find things just change without us doing anything different. We need to add events immediately to our calendar, and this is causing nothing but problems.

Here is our System Status information:

Hi Renee,

The above happens when you are using the latest version of WP with an outdated version of EE3.

WP introduced some security fixes to core that caused the above problem in EE, we then fixed those issues in version EE3.1.37+ but if you used an older version it would create entries in the database each time you updated an event, then when creating a new event it shows all of those entries.

The first step to fixing this is to backup your database (just to be safe), so before moving forward can you create a backup? There’s lots of method available to create a backup of the database but here is a plugin I have used in the past:

https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/backupwordpress/

You just need to make sure you have a full database backup before proceeding.

Sorry, Tony, I don’t follow. We have everything up to date.

Event Espresso version 3.1.37.12.P
WordPress version WP 4.9.5

I can create a back-up, yes. I’ve done that.

Proceed to do what now???

Please advise.

Thank you.

Sorry, Tony, I don’t follow. We have everything up to date.

You may have both EE and WP up to date now, but at some point, you had WP updated with an older version of EE installed, when you use that set up it adds additional ‘blank’ entries to the database so then even if you update EE you see those entries when creating a new event.

I can create a back-up, yes. I’ve done that.

Proceed to do what now???

Now you have a database backup, you can install the plugin mentioned here:

https://gist.github.com/Pebblo/8a2cc1e6343b7952ad967cef29ce6545

That will remove the additional rows from the tables when when activated, you then remove that plugin again and test creating a new event.
