Event Espresso version: 3.1.34.P
WordPress version: WP 3.6
Installed plugins:

Event Espresso – Members Addon by Event Espresso version 1.9.7.2,
Event Espresso – Multi Event Registration by Seth Shoultes version 1.0.4,
Event Espresso Requirements Check by Event Espresso version 0.9,
Event Espresso by Event Espresso version 3.1.34.P,
Gravity Forms by rocketgenius version 1.7.7

This is a new installation.

This is on a staging / development server:
http://wsmta.wdwalr.us/event-registration/

This is the basic story and pricing structure I am trying to implement:
Teacher + First Student is $40 registration
Additional Students are $20 each

event registration outline information:

Teacher Information
1. Teacher Name
2. Teacher Address
3. Teacher Home Phone
4. Teacher Cell Phone
5. Teacher Email Address

Student Info
1. Student Name
2. Parent/Guardian Name
3. Student Address
4. Student Home Phone
5. Student Cell Phone
6. Student Email
7. Division- Junior Div.(ages 11-14 as of Jan 1 2014)//Senior Division(Ages 15-18 as of Jan 1 2014)
8. Birthdate

Repertoire (boxes)
Please be specific; include Opus numbers, BWV number, movements of each piece.
Length of the piece- accuracy is important: the time you submit will be the time allowed and there can be no changes or additions once the application is submitted. The format is specific: for an 8 minute 20 second long piece, enter 00:08:20, which represents hours:minutes seconds.

1. Title
2. Composer
3. Duration

Entry Fees

Teacher Entry Fees- First Student $40.00 | Additional $20 | Number of additional students
Student Entry Fees- Junior 70 per | Senior 90 per student

Teacher pledge:
I hereby pledge to act in a respectful and courteous manner toward the competition staff.

Can I get some suggestions – and I am a complete EE Noob – so please be specific, if you don’t mind… I’m still learning.

I really appreciate any and all help – I’ve been trying to implement this for several days and just not getting it.

Hi Andy,

The reg form and pricing structure is a little on the complex side. Before I can give a recommendation, are you looking to send out one registration email to the teacher on registration -or- one to the teacher and one to each student that gets registered?

The teacher will be the one filling out the reg form for her students. The teacher is the only one that needs the info.
I am open to purchasing 2-4 premium support tokens if you think that would be the most efficient way to handle this…
They’d like to get it up and running by mid-week next week…
Thanks!

It looks like you already have this form set up. With the way it is set up right now each student will get a confirmation email. Is that acceptable?

It is acceptable for the students to receive email confirmation when the teacher completes registration. It would be good if they didn’t see any of the money details, though.

I tried hard to set the form up, but the pricing doesn’t seem right.

I really need this working before Wednesday – so if I have to purchase some support tokens to get it the final 10-20% of the way there, I am open to that.

It seems a bit clunky to me as well – but maybe that’s just how the registration is going to work for “version 1″….

Thanks for your input & help on this!

The students will not see any of the payment details if all the payment related information is in the “Payment Confirmation Email” template that gets configured in Event Espresso>General Settings.

What doesn’t seem right about the pricing?

1 Teacher with one student ticket @ $40 = $40

5 additional student tickets @ $20 = $100

There can only be 1 Teacher & first Student – but it gives me the option to select 1-30. Also, the first Attendee’s first name field is missing…

Hi Andy,

Event Espresso doesn’t have a feature that puts a limit on a ticket price type at this time. What it does is allow you to put a limit on the total group registration.

I imagine that he select box could be modified on the fly with a bit of jQuery so that it always shows 1. This would require some custom development.

With the first student name field that’s attached to the teacher’s ticket: What you’ll need to do is create an additional question (eg. First Student First Name) and assign it to a question group that only applies to the primary attendee.

we are trying to figure out the logic on our end

one request or concern that has come up is this:
students at the “junior” grade level should be charged an additional $70
students ad the “senior” grade level should be charge an additional $90
is this possible? how would i set that up?

Also – I can’t seem to get the “First Name” field above the “Last Name” field:

any suggestions here?

Thanks for all your help so far!

You can add additional ticket types to offer the the higher priced options for Juniors and Seniors.

The question fields can be ordered by number or by drag and drop on the Question overview screen.

Thanks, Josh – I got the First Name field in the right spot now.

So, my client has gotten back to me regarding the logic and how it needs to look for the teachers to register.

The “Teacher + First Student” must have 1 registrant (but we need to collect both teacher & student info for this)
Also, we need to add a fee ($70 or $90) based on grade level of that student and all other students.

This is what they have on their paper version (and would like to stick with it as much as possible):
http://wsmta.wdwalr.us/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/2013-OAC-Application.docx

I am also very interested in how YOU would set it up – the way that will be easiest to maintain and using EE as it was designed.

I can probably sell them on changing their logic / flow to match what is easier to maintain.

We really need this up and running ASAP – and looking better, too.
I am ready to hand this off to an expert, I think – after I hear how you would go about setting it up.

Thanks again for your patience and working with me on this!

Hi Andy,

I think what you’ll need to do is drop the idea of charging $40 for the first teacher/student entry and go with a flat $20 fee for each attendee. The first attendee will be the teacher, and each additional attendee will be a student.

The variable pricing ($70/$90 extra) can be accomplished by using the Price modifier add-on:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/espresso-price-modifier/

In order to use the price modifier add-on you’ll need to enable the registration form (which is currently disabled and using Multi Event Registration’s cart instead) as the price modifier isn’t compatible with Multi Event Registration. Once the form is working for the single reg. form, Multi Event Registration can be disabled.

Thanks, Josh!

Where do I get the Price Modifier add-on?
I don’t see it here: https://eventespresso.com/add-ons/

Thanks!

Hi Andy,

The Price Modifier add-on is available through the Pre-release channel
