Hi Kathryn,

Which version of Event Espresso do you currently have installed?

Are you looking to update from EE3 to EE4?

Before moving any further have you created a full site backup? If not I would highly recommend doing so. There are multiple plugins available to create backups, here is one I have used before:

I have BackWPup installed on my WP website, but don’t know how to activate it. I haven’t used Event Espresso since the fall of 2014. I re-upped for a year, but never used it, it’s expired. I just bought and paid for a new subscription which says its EE4. I am not really looking to update as much as reinstall? Can you update when you haven’t had a subscription for a while?

Hi Kathryn,

We received your request for priority support. Do you want migrate the data from 2014 or start fresh with no event data?

Also, the form you sent did not include FTP credentials. We really need file access to install EE. Can you resend the form and include FTP credentials -or- some form of temporary access to the servers files? The host c-panel (control panel) will work as well.

I remember you!!! Start fresh. I have no idea what FTP means.

I just sent you my FTP information from Blue Host. The password I gave you is correct, I just changed it to the one I gave you. Thanks!

I use PayPal for registration fees. Can you set that up as well, and the two add ons I bought? Social Media and the photo grid, want the grid set up on the home page, and on the archive page. Thank you.

Hi Kathryn,

The plugins are installed and your PayPal account is entered into the payment settings. It’s ready for you to start adding some events.

I put the grid short code onto the bottom of the archive and home pages, feel free to move the short code to another place if that’s not the right spot. Remember that the grid short code will only start displaying events after you’ve added at least one event and the event must have a featured image set to display a photo.

Wow!! Thank you! that was fast!! So nice to work with a familiar face as well! I was really proud of myself that I googled the FTP thing and figured out how to get it myself, LOL! I am amazed that all the info I gave you worked.

Thank you again!! So appreciated! I love Event Espresso, so easy to use once it is installed, and keeps me organized!!
Blessings! Kathy

Josh, I was under the impression that when I added the featured image on the event page that it would automatically show on my home page with a clickable link to the event. It didn’t. I had to paste the code in for the photo to show. I copied and pasted the link over the photo, but the link d doesn’t work. I was planning on promoting the event today, but really can’t until that is fixed, or I can figure out what went wrong. Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi Kathryn,

That’s really up to your WordPress theme whether a featured image is displayed on the home page. May I ask, does a featured image display for regular blog posts?

Thanks Joah, No, it doesn’t, but that is what I thought the App did, take your featured image on your event and post it on the home page with a link back to the event page. I apparently misunderstood. Please explain what it does. I don’t need to pay for an app to post photos on my event pages, that is simple!

Hi Kathryn,

If your WordPress theme supports Featured images, then Event Espresso will work with that and display the featured image. If the theme doesn’t support featured images, then no featured image will be displayed.

I have been playing with it, and now it says “image coming soon” on my home page, even though I have an image on the event page. Not sure how to get the image on to the grid. I thought it was supposed to do it automatically. When you hover over it it does tell you about the event. Thank you.

It’s not on my home page, it goes to an event page. Now I have two of the same photos side by side, and the plug in doesn’t work. I am going to have to just delete it completely, it’s messing up my website.

When you go to edit an event, does it have a Featured Image upload option?

Yes, it does. I deleted the grid view app. I am leaving for vacation tonight, and will have to figure it out when I get back. Thanks for your help!!
