NEED HELP FAST! Need to delete "Free Event" printed on registration page

With a looming deadline, I am desperately trying to delete (or change) the “Free Event” that is automatically printed on the registration page of an event when the event price is $0. (I’m trying to find a work-around for an event that is pre-paid so that I can add other events that only have a PayPal option.) Anyway, I’ve tried searching for the “Free Event”(using F4) within all the files – I’ve changed some but can’t seem to find the right one. It’s the one that is on the very first page after a person clicks on the event in the calendar. The page is title ‘Registration Page’ and lists the description, start time, end time, ‘Free Event’, then Registration Details – Personal Information where people enter their name & e-mail and click SUBMIT.

PLEASE HELP me find the root of this “Free Event”!!!

Hi Shannon,

Most text strings in Event Espresso are translatable. While you could go through multiple template and function files to reword where it says “Free Event”, it’s a lot cleaner and easier to maintain if you create your own “English” translation file. One change in the language file will apply for each instance where the text string is used. Here’s a brief outline on how to do this:

1) We recommend poedit for working on translation files: http://www.poedit.net/

2) After you install poedit, you can download a copy of event-espresso and open the /languages/event_espresso-en_US.po file in poedit.

3) Use the Find tool to pull up the text string you need to modify.

4) Enter your text string modification in the lower text area.

5) Save, then upload the .po file and newly generated .mo file to the wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/languages/ directory on your server.
