I need help configuring my registration options so that they work correctly with my pricing. |
I have multiple options of available registrations for classes and divisions in my event. How do I set up my pricing so that competitors can only check off the amount of classes they’ve paid for in their ticket? |
Hi there, We’ve received your request for priority support. While we cannot log in to your website with the credentials you sent, we can help you get on the right track if you can outline exactly what you’re trying to accomplish with questions & ticket options. May I ask can you post a link to the event page, and a list of each of the tickets with the questions they need to be mapped to? |
Is there anyway to speak to someone directly about this? Or can you help me get you into my site? Here is a link to the ticket options |
You can resend the redeem a support token form, and send the correct information to log into your WordPress site. the information you sent appears to be the log in credentials to log into eventespresso.com, we do not need those. That said, we probably don’t need to log into your site to help you with this.
One way would be to split those different ticket options into their own events. Then you can set up a unique custom question group for each option, then assign each unique question group to each event. Another approach would be to keep everything within one event, but then use CSS to hide questions that shouldn’t be displayed based on which tickets were selected. |
I’m not sure either of those options will work because they need to choose a division and class or classes after they choose a ticket option. I would need to be able to narrow their options after they choose a division. I will try to resend my WordPress site log in. |
Can you outline a specific example of a division ticket, and exactly which questions would be narrowed down to? |
For the event, they can purchase an entry fee for one class in one division or if they want to crossover to other classes within that division they can add more in, but the fee increases. I set up my tickets with prices to cover the entry plus the amount of crossovers they want, but once they’re in, all of the registration divisions and classes become available. So once they reach the registration page they choose a division (there are 7) and within that a class or classes. As of now they can check off everything if they want to. There is no control or way to narrow their options. So for example if they wanted to compete in the Men’s Bodybuilding Division and compete in two classes they would purchase the entry plus one crossover ticket, but could effectively check off anything once they’re inside the reg form. That’s what I need to fix. |
So for example if they wanted to compete in the Men’s Bodybuilding Division and compete in two classes where they would purchase the entry plus one crossover ticket, then which options do you want to limit them to? |
They could choose two of the five: Teen, Novice, Age 50+, Age 40+, Open |
One issue I see is it looks to me that these questions could be re-organized to keep like data with like data. So for example if it’s class that applies to a specific age group then in one question give these options: teen, 40+, 50+. And instead of multiple choice/checkboxes, you can use radio buttons which forces the age option to one answer. Then you set up a second question for classes that doesn’t apply to a specific age group: novice, open. If someone will compete in both novice and open, then you can set that question to be multiple choice/checkbox. If someone will compete in novice or open (not both) then that question should also be set to be a radio button question type. Is that something you can change to get this started on the path forward? |
The problem here is that the classes are different for each division. So some divisions have Teen, Novice, 50+, 40+ and Open, while others may have just Novice, 40+ and Open. |
The way to solve that problem will be to split out each division into its own event. This way you’ll have more control over the questions for each division. Would it be OK if I set up two example test events that would show an example of how that would work? |
Sure, thank you!! But would they be able to be all on one page in my site, under the same label in my main navigation? |
They can all be listed on one page, yes. |
OK there are two divisions set up as their own events and they are both listed here: https://shamrockcupclassic.com/event-category/competitors/ You’ll note that the questions are broken out where only one class can be selected per question, and the additional crossover options are displayed only when the appropriate ticket option is selected. You can follow the same example events, question groups, and questions when you set up the other divisions. Finally, there’s some Additional CSS input into the Appearance Customize > Additional CSS panel. If you need help with applying the CSS for the other divisions just let us know and we can help you get up and running with that part. Side note: the Women’s Bodybuilding division has 3 active ticket options because there are 3 classes in total. |
Thank you so much!! I can duplicate this for the other divisions, but I will definitely need help with the CSS. How do I go about doing that when I’m ready? Also, there are now multiple extra headings in my site’s main navigation. How do I get these division registrations to all show up under the Competitors tab without the extras? |
It’s mostly copy and pasting the existing CSS, then changing the ticket and crossover class IDs so the CSS will work. If you have an event ready I can post some additional CSS here.
You can use the menu manager under the Appearance menu to remove the extras and next in additional events under “Competitors”. You’ll likely want to replace the URL for “Competitors” with this: https://shamrockcupclassic.com/event-category/competitors/ and assign the “Competitors” category when you add those additional division events. |
Ok, thank you so much!! I will get back to you. |
Ok, I was able to copy one of the events you made and it is live. Can you tell me how to fix the CSS so that each ticket only shows the correct questions? |
You’ll actually be adding new CSS that will target the new tickets and new questions. The ticket ID’s for the tickets to target are: 43 — Early Entry Registration Notes: You’ll notice that the +3 Crossover tickets do not get targeted, this is because when someone selects +3 Crossover they should see all of the crossover options. The Question ID’s to target are: The Question ID’s are found in table on the Event Espresso > Registration Forms > Questions page. You’ll add the additional CSS to the CSS editor page located at Appearance > Edit CSS. You plug those ID’s into the CSS like this:
I’m sorry. I really don’t understand this part. Is there any chance I can get someone to plug this in for me? |
May I ask what part do you not understand? The reason I ask is because all of the work is done that event, you just need to copy and paste in the above CSS. |
There are four other events I had to set up to cover all of the divisions. I’m not sure how to translate that to each one. |
Ok, I got the Men’s Physique css you set up working where you said to put it. I will try and set up the next one and get back to you. Thank you! |
I figured it out. |
Do you mean where to change the URL for the navigation menu? If so, you can change that in WP > Appearance > Menus. |
I’m sorry, but which box? It doesn’t seem to be working no matter where I put the link. |
I figured it out. Thank you so much for everything!!! You really saved me. I appreciate your patience. |
