Need assistance with updating our Plugins

Hello,

Our Event Expresso is not working at the moment. Our training registration links do not work.

I believe we need to update our version of Event Espresso and I am not familiar with how to do that.

Can someone please reach out ASAP?

Hi there,

Go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Permalinks.

Make no changes and just hit save.

Do your links then work again?

Why did this happen?

Its caused by another plugin causing permalinks to flush at an unexpected point before EE can add it’s rewrite rules, the ‘pretty’ permalinks stop working until you flush permalinks at a point where EE is able to add its rules (the above).

Are we updated to the latest version of Event Espresso now?

No, that just fixed your permalinks

To update to the latest version of Event Espresso from the one you have now you’ll need to do it manually.

Go to your account pages: https://eventespresso.com/users/juicemarketing/

In your downloads section click on Event Espresso 4 download then on ‘Event Espresso 4 Core Regular 5.0.7.p’ to download the latest .zip file:

Then on your own site go to Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add new -> Upload plugin.

Select the .zip you just download and upload.

WordPress will tell you there is a version of the plugin already installed and ask if you want to replace it, do so.

Now you’ll have the latest version.

Moving forward from here the regular ‘one-click’ updates should work as normal.

So, I’m basically always going to recommend you use the latest version as that’s the version we provide support for, for example, if you open a thread tomorrow with X issue the first thing I’m going to recommend you do is update and confirm the issue is still present in the latest version.

The reason for that is we may have already fixed it and we don’t ‘backport’ fixes to older versions.

You may not be running into issues with the current version and if you want to stay on that version, for now, you can do. The above issue isn’t related to the specific version of Event Espresso you are running.
