Name not being captured on event registrations

Occasionally (maybe 5%) of the time, when an event booking is made by a user, the registrant’s name is not capture and appears as blank in the CMS.

I am running Event Espresso 4.7.2.p

Is this a bug? Will updating the plugin to the latest version fix this?
