Hi.

I believe I have ready every single post and support topic on setting up EE with WPMU and was not able to find an answer to my dilema. All the information I found states that EE does in fact work with WPMU however, I find that it does not work.

I have a brand new install of WP 3.7.1. I activated multisite and created a new site called Events. The setup is to use WPMU in subfolder mode – not subdomains and not to link other domains directly to the subsites. I need EE to run on the subsite “Events” and not on the primary site. Installed EE and activated only in Events subsite but I get this:

The plugin generated 395 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.

I also got these when visit the “General Settings” page…

Argument #2 is not an array in /home/content/48/7432648/html/dev/atiinc.org/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/includes/functions/admin.php on line 1299

Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/content/48/7432648/html/dev/atiinc.org/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/includes/functions/admin.php on line 1300

I tried to setup on the primary but got the same 1st error but did not get the other 2 error in the General Settings page. I am hoping there is answer to this since I am unable to use EE with the my current theme. To be able to implement EE in my current site I would have to change the theme and various other plugins due to incompatibility – this would not be feasable. I am also using s2Member in the current site and I will need to be able to configure the subsite “Events” to work w a shared list of users, which I can manage. Only issue now is the ability to run EE in this style configuration.

Please help!

Thank you in advance,
Melvin

Hi Melvin,

I created an MU site as well and a sub directory site, so my url is http://www.eemu2.dev/eetest1/

In the main parent site I allowed the sub sites to have access to activate plugins and installed the plugin on the main parent site.

Then went over to the sub site and activated it, and I got no errors at all.

This is with WP 3.1.71 and EE 3.1.52

The headers already sent error, usually comes up when there is either a conflict or a code error. We can rule out code error as the latest version has been tested by us and the community at large and that issues hasn’t been reported.

You mentioned that there might be a compatibility issue – “To be able to implement EE in my current site I would have to change the theme and various other plugins due to incompatibility” – is this something you have confirmed? If so what is the cause of the conflict?

We can try to assist as best we can, but please remember that formally Event Espresso is not Multi Site compatible.

Hi Dean!!

Happy Holidays! and Thank You sooooo VERY much for responding to me so quickly.

I did go back and deleted my setup and installed a fresh copy of WP 3.7.1 and EE 3.1.35.2.P. I configured WP for multisite and was able to successfully setup the subsite with EE. I am pretty sure I must have configured multiple other options before testing the setup with the bare essentials and that caused the problems I had earlier.

Regarding incompatibility issue…. I was referring to the site that is currently live. I am not able to add EE to this site due to incompatibilities with the theme (Churchope). This is the reason why I am trying to setup WP and EE with the multisite option. I am currently in the development stages and all seems VERY promising thus far.

Thank You again for your assistance.

I would like to also thank you for a very good product. Event Espresso came out on top of our research, by a large margin, with 5 other plugins we looked at. It has all the features we need and we are hopeful that this new development will allow us to advance our organizations’ goal.

Sincerely,
– Melvin

Hi Melvin,

No holidays for me just yet (I’m not American) but thank you anyway! I’m really glad that you got it figured out, multisite can be a pain sometimes.

We have had some minor issues with that theme in the past, though nothing related to your issue. Generally we don’t recommend Themeforest themes, as while some are good, some fail to follow WordPress coding guidelines and can cause issues.

Finally, thank you for your feedback, we really love it when people are excited about Event Espresso as we are. If you get some spare time, we would appreciate it if you shared your experiences of Event Espresso – https://eventespresso.com/about/help-us-help-you-how-to-share-event-espresso/
