We are planning a business event in September where the first representative of a company pays $75 for their ticket, and all additional attendees from that company pay $30. Is there a way to set it up in Event Espresso where the $30 ticket level is only available to those already purchasing a $75 ticket?

Thanks!

Hi there,

It would take a bit of hacking in 3.1.x, but it’s possible. What you can do is install the Multi Event Registration add-on and set up your registration page as detailed in this guide:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/multiple-events-registration-use-add-to-cart-link-instead-of-default-registration-form/

Then you could set up two prices for the event. One price at $75, then another for $30.

Then a little jQuery function could be added to the cart page that would change the $75 price option default to a quantity of 1, with no option to set it to zero.

Thanks, Josh! So the Event Espresso site says that I already have access to the Multi Event Registration add-on as part of the package I purchased, but I can’t figure out how to actually access it.

I was able to make the changes in the Event where I’m adding the “Add to Cart” button to the page instead of the default registration form, but since I can’t figure out how to access the multi-event add on or the cart, I’m kind of stuck. I’m sorry!

Hi,

It sounds like you already have MER activated. There isn’t any setup left to do once activating it. See the documentation here: MER

I do have it activated, but I can’t figure out how to edit the cart page and add the jQuery function to ensure that people buy tickets at the appropriate price levels, like Josh said in his first post.

Here’s the link to my event:
http://www.livehealthyappalachia.org/wordpress/event-registration/?regevent_action=register&event_id=22

And here’s the link to the cart page, which I can’t find in WordPress to edit:
http://www.livehealthyappalachia.org/wordpress/event-registration/?regevent_action=show_shopping_cart

Right now, someone could buy as many tickets of either price level that they want. I want to set it up so that only one $75 ticket can be purchased, and the all subsequent purchases are for $30 tickets.

When I click “edit page” from the front end of the cart page, the only thing that comes up in the text editor is “[ESPRESSO_EVENTS]”.

I think Josh was saying that you’d need to modify the template file(s) with your jquery function to limit ticket selections.

I think you’d edit the shopping_cart.php file.

I think this might be too advanced for me. I don’t actually know what a jQuery is, and when I go to edit the shopping cart in the only way that I can figure out to do so, I just get a text box that says “[ESPRESSO_EVENTS]” where the information for the shopping cart would ideally be.

Hi,

If you are not sure what jQuery is, then yes you will need the help of a developer to achieve what your are after, as it is not something that is available in the default plugin.

We have a list of recommended developers here https://eventespresso.com/developers/event-espresso-pros/
