We are running a golf tournament, and we can sell 1 to 4 spots at a time. When we get the email as the admin for pending payments and it lists all the registrants, it has the primary registrants in all 4 spots if they got 4 tickets. Now when I go and get the CSV file, the 3 other names are there of course. Is there a way to get those 3 other names to show in the admin email? Does that make sense? It would be nice to have if possible. Thanks.

Hi Steve,

It sounds like have created your own first and last name questions in a custom question group that you are using for additional registrants, is that correct?

In order for the users to show up as individual registrants, you need to request the ‘Personal Information’ question group on your additional registrants and use the system questions EE created.

Can you link me to an event I can run a test registration on?

I’m pretty sure I have it setup right. I have space for the Primary, and then if they get 2-4 tickets there is a space for the names. And they do come through, but I can only see them if I go to download the CSV and open in Excel. In the email I get as Admin, I would get this:

Registration(s) Pending Payment
The following registration(s) are awaiting payment for the following event(s).
Event: 13th Annual Coley’s Cause Memorial Golf Tournament
Registrant(s):

So Matt buys 4 tickets, and the 3 other names are there but I can only see them in the CSV export. Is there a way to show these names in email that is sent as well? My customer does not want to download every time there is a registration, so hoping to make it easier for them to track things on a daily basis.

You have it setup differently from how I mentioned above, so it depends what you mean by right.

Your additional registrants ‘name’ question is a custom question, so EE is not collecting the system question group ‘Personal Information’.

So Matt buys 4 tickets, and the 3 other names are there but I can only see them in the CSV export. Is there a way to show these names in email that is sent as well?

Yes there is, you can include answers to custom questions in the email which will show the answer for the Name question you have added. However with your current set up all registrations will show up as ‘Matt Graney’ and then you can output the answer to you name question.

So do you want each registrant to show as a individual user in EE (you will need to collect first name, last name and email address for this to work) or do you just want to include the answer to your ‘Name’ question in the email?

So as we are in the middle of the event, I do not want to redo the registration setup. For this time, I would love to be able to add the custom question/answer to the emails. For next year, what is the better way to set this up do you think? Thanks!

So to add that answer to the email go to:

Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default message templates -> Registration pending payment -> Event admin (click on the event admin link to edit the event admin context)

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/messages-system-working-with-message-contexts/

Then within the ATTENDEE_LIST section you can add something like:

Players name: [ANSWER_* {question_text}]

So in your case it looks like it would be:

Players name: [ANSWER_* If you are registering multiple players, please enter their name(s) here.]

Like this – http://take.ms/81qOB

Now below the registrant name the answer for that question (if they have one) will be output.

Save the template and test a registration.

For next year, what is the better way to set this up do you think?

As mentioned, set the ‘Personal Information’ question group on your ‘Additional Registrants’ question groups within the event.

You’ll see something like this within the event – http://take.ms/1CBvc

You want the checkbox next to ‘Personal Information’ at the bottom to be checked. That way each registration will be unique and have the name and email set so EE will use those values.

So a registration came in, and it does not look like it worked, the place for the info is there, but no name showed. Did I not put it in correctly?

Rather than asking you multiple questions can I take a look at the message template?

If so you can send login details using this form:

Apologies, you need a space between ANSWER_* and {question text}:

[ANSWER_* {question_text}]

I’ve edited my reply above but I have made that change on your message template and test a registration, the value for that question was output in the messages.
