This is the 5th year we have used event espresso for our event and this years update has been nothing but trouble. There were so many changes that our web guy spent hours re-working our site to get it to “function”. Since it has been live there have been issues and I don’t think I am even aware of all of them. One reason we stuck with EE in the past was the option to use QB payments but now that is an additional $70 a year. Ok then using PayPal . . . we tried to use the PRO version so that clients could pay with a cc and not feel like they need a PayPal account but this was causing security errors even though we have SSL on the site. So that was removed. Then we have and multiple server time out errors and generally people struggling to register. We only have 1 event a year….our registrations have never been this low! Signing up for the event should not be this hard. I wish I had better details but it just seems to be making our registration process difficult.

Hi there,

I’m sorry you’re having so much trouble. Most of the time these things just work, but when they don’t we are here to help.

The first thing to check with your web guy about is have they made sure that WordPress and Event Espresso are up to date with the current versions? Also, may I ask which payment method are you using now?

The server timeout issues can be avoided by setting higher limits for the server. Your web guy should be able to add these two lines of code to the wp-config.php file:

define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );
@ini_set( 'max_execution_time', 90 );

I will see if we can get our web guy to work on the time out issues.

We are currently using basic pay pal but in the past many of our attendees prefer not to use paypal. That is why we wanted to use QB or PayPal Pro.

We are also struggling to sort the list with out all registrants pulling in all the way back to 2013! This new system has been difficult for us to use and some of the features (add another event pop up) have been an extra un-needed step for our clients. We offer one event a year it is important that things work with out all these issues. I am very frustrated to say the least. Our event is on Sunday and the past 4 days NO registrations! In the past the week prior to the event had the most registrations! It seems something else may be causing registration issues

Updated the time out issue….doing some testing and now if a client started the purchase process but didn’t complete the payment….when you return to purchase it says you can not because you can’t have more then 1 ticket in your cart. But there is no way to get to your cart!

Can that pop up be removed to send them directly to the registration page instead?

Hi again,

I can explain a few more action items that you or the web guy can do to make sure your website is set up correctly in the replies below:

We are also struggling to sort the list with out all registrants pulling in all the way back to 2013!

You can view the registrants for the current event only by going to the Event Espresso > Events page, then you click on the View Registrants icon in the same row as the current event.

We are currently using basic pay pal but in the past many of our attendees prefer not to use paypal.

PayPal Express will allow paying by credit card if you do not have a PayPal account. You can use PayPal Express with your current PayPal account, and our documentation explains how to get your PayPal Express API credentials:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/paypal-express-payment-gateway/

some of the features (add another event pop up) have been an extra un-needed step for our clients

You can remove the add another event pop up/the extra un-needed stop for your clients by going to your WordPress Plugins page, then deactivate the Multi Event Registration add-on.

If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to ask, we are here to help.

When I deactivate the multi event registration then it doesn’t take you to the registration page. 🙁

May I ask what doesn’t take you to the registration page? Can you explain what happens instead? If you can’t explain, then we can investigate further if you can complete the form on this secure page:

It just thinks and does not go to another page…reactivated now its not working at all….trying to work through with my web person too

now all registrations are getting the error “We’re sorry, but your ticket selections could not be processed due to a server timing error. Please hit the back button on your browser and try again.”

even with the server timer update

I see that. Can you white list 75.133.216.14 ?

Along with that, someone will need to disable caching for the registration checkout page. It’s the caching that causes the Nothing in your event queue error.

white listed IP and send not to our web person

Can you double check the credentials and resend the form please? The WordPress log in pages says it’s an invalid username, and the FTP server address is not correct.

So a few registrations came through last night I am not sure if you made changes or not but a few people were able to get through. Yesterday I made a discount code for testing but now that option is missing? I was going to make an offer code to wave the fee for a few of our vendors and also a $5 off code for the day of the event for anyone who experienced problems registering for the event (we increase the price by $5 the day of the event). Why is this option missing now? It was working just yesterday.

I haven’t logged in to your website yet because the credentials you sent earlier yesterday did not work. So you can be sure that I did not make any changes. I’ll try logging in again now with the latest credentials you sent and let you know what I find about the discount code option

OK so the username that you sent in both forms is not a valid username for your website. Are you sending the username for your Event Espresso account? We don’t actually need that. We need a username that will allow logging int to he genevabride.com website. Can you double-check and make sure that what you send is a valid username and password combination that will log into the genevabride.com website? Thank you!
