Following up on this thread (same exact client):
https://eventespresso.com/topic/receiving-7-registration-notification-emails-per-event-after-upgrade/

We’re getting multiple confirmation emails each time someone registers for an event. Multiple, meaning between 5 and 15 individual emails.

I’ve tried everything I can think of, with some help from Seth, and still haven’t identified the culprit. Now, I’ve been working with it so long that I’m afraid I’m missing something elementary.

Some of the things I’ve tried:

* Make sure there’s no caching
* Downgrade EE
* Upgrade EE
* Checked Return URL
* Checked IPN URL
* Disabled Redirects
* Turned on full logging

I’m adding a ticket shortly with more details and access to the site and server.

Thanks!

Forgot to mention, I also tried connecting them to Mandrill (still connected) and it does exactly the same thing, just with more traceability.

Tony reported his findings in an email, this is for anyone else experiencing the same issue:

This turned out to be caused by the [EVENT_IDENTIFIER] shortcode that had been added to the Payment Received – Event Admin message type within the [EVENT_LIST] section.

After the shortcode was removed from the message, the IPNs are now correctly acknowledged by the site and no duplicated emails.

There’s an open ticket for the error being thrown by that shortcode. In the meantime we advise against using it.
