Multiple issues with all registrations from this week!

Hi, everything has been going smoothly for the past year, but just in the past 5 days, multiple issues have cropped up all at once, with the latest 2 events that I’ve added. All of the registrations in the past 5 days have had all of these issues:
1. When people register their details, the next page that comes up for them should just be about the payment details, but an entire page of text shows up as well. It’s messy and confusing and not sure why this has started happening just in the past week.
2. I always enable ‘full registration details’ as required for every registration. But for the last 2 new events created, only the minimum details show up, (name and email only)even though the settings are correct.
3. The email addresses that are typed in by the registrants isn’t showing up correctly, as when I go to email the registrants, the emails all come bouncing back.
4. Finally, each registration is showing up as doubled-up. Price and all. Very confusing for both myself, and no doubt, for the registrants.
Thanks!

Hi,

The first thing you will need to do is update Event Espresso, as there was a change a while back with WordPress (ver 3.3 I think) which caused pretty much every plugin out there to need to be updated, Event Espresso was no different.

As such until you update the plugin you will get a bunch of errors and it may not work correctly.

Once updated, please check all the issues you mentioned and if they are still occurring (number one will definitely be cleared up) please advise and we can look into it in more detail.

Hi Dean,
Thanks for the reply & tip.
How do I update Event Espresso? On this website, or on my wordpress site? (Yes, I am mostly completely tech-illiterate!)
Also thanks for doing a test run my site.

Hi Sonja,

If your licence key is added (General Settings) then you should be able to update directly from the Plugins > Installed plugins section.

You can if you wish download the plugins from your account and manually update – http://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins#Manual_Plugin_Installation

While it may not be necessary, I do recommend backing up your site prior to upgrades, especially when you are jumping a lot of versions like you are here.

We have a back up guide here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-back-up-your-site/

Hi,
Thank you for your tips on upgrading. will do shortly. Just before I do, however, I fear I have security issues/breaches on EE. I’m receiving multiple spam/fake registrations this week. That’s never happened before.
Thanks

Hi Sonja,

Spam registrations aren’t security issues/breaches, they are just an unfortunate part of the web.

You could enable reCapatcha within Event Espresso -> General Settings. Look under ‘reCapatcha Settings’. This will help reduce these spam registrations.

Note for reCapatcha you’ll need to sign up here:

http://www.google.com/recaptcha

To receive a Public/Private key which need to be input into the correct fields mentioned in the settings above.
