I’m setting up the Multiple Event Registration addon. It seems to work, but when I follow the “Enter Attendee Information” link, it gives me a registration information for for each event. I only want a single form. It does look like there’s an option to copy the information from the previous form, but I’d rather just have a single form. How do I change this? |
The short answer is you use Event Espresso 4 with its Multi Event Registration add-on. Event Espresso 3 handles those forms differently. |

We can’t do that at this point — my client is not prepared to migrate everything to EE4, plus we just paid for the EE3 upgrade and EE3 compatible MER addon. Are you saying there is no way to eliminate the multiple forms in EE3? That kind of interface issue really should be resolved. |
If you had asked the same question a few years ago before EE4 and EE4’s MER was ready, the answer would have been no. Part of the reason why EE4 was built in the first place (as opposed to doing something like EE3.2) was because EE3 had its limits and issues like the different forms for the events could not be resolved. So when they built EE4 they made sure the platform could handle things like multiple events, with one form. |

OK, so is the answer to my question (can EE3’s version of MER use a single for for registration) an absolute no? If that’s the case and I want to move to EE4 and it’s version of MER, do I need repurchase EE4 and it’s version of MER, or would the licenses I just purchased a few hours ago work? And how difficult/tricky is the migration from EE3 to EE4? |
OK, so is the answer to my question (can EE3’s version of MER use a single for for registration) an absolute no? Not exactly an absolute no. If someone were to re-factor the code in EE3 to make it possible to combine forms or to take a somewhat hacky approach and copy fields from one form to other while hiding the other forms, it could work, but we don’t support these because we have the solution in EE4 that’s ready to go without putting together that might not be all that reliable.
You won’t need to repurchase, someone from the sales team can convert your license to an EE4 license. You can send an email to sales@eventespresso.com and let them know you want to convert the licenses you just purchased to EE4 and they’ll work out the details with you. The process for migrating to EE4 in most cases is pretty easy because there’s a script that runs after you activate EE4 that migrates the event, venue, and attendee data. The most noticeable difference is event and registration pages in EE4 will take on the look and feel of the theme more than EE3 did. There’s more detailed information about how to prepare to migrate to EE4 in this wiki: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-upgrade-event-espresso/#migrate-to-event-espresso-4 |
