I am under the impression that application passwords will give multiple users access to one event but not one user access to multiple events. I would like to have multiple authors of an event so that multiple users are able to use the app to check attendees in. Ultimately I have an event manager who needs to oversee a few events and they also have gate staff who need to have access to particular events only. If the event manager is given admin privileges he is able to see all events and not just the ones he manages. If I use a plugin like THIS Can I achieve this task? Or is there a better way to get this done?

Just confirmed that that plugin will not work. No events load for second author

The application passwords plugin basically allows you to create multiple passwords for an account, so you can give multiple users access to an account (the author of the event for example) and they have access to the event, but you don’t need to give them the ‘real’ password for the account and revoke the app passwords to remove access.

I would like to have multiple authors of an event so that multiple users are able to use the app to check attendees in.

Currently you can not have multiple authors, but could use the app passwords plugin to give the ‘gate staff’ a login into that account they can use to scan the tickets, then revoke the app passwords when finished. Or even create a new account that only has access to that single event, set it as the event author and use the app passwords plugin to give the staff access to that account again.

Would that work?

To do that I would create a role that only has access to ‘their’ events and assign it to that user, then set the user as the author for events they should have access to.

I created an example plugin that may help here: http://take.ms/WcoqG

That plugin adds 2 roles, ‘Events Organizer’ which only has access to the EE events they are assigned to and ‘Events Managers’ which has full access to Event Espresso.

I currently use that plugin in any case.

Thanks!

Are application password options only supposed to show for the user currently logged in or is an administrator able to add application password for another user?

It will only show for the current user, you can use the User Switching plugin to easily ‘switch’ to a user from the Users menu.
