Hi – I’m trying to setup some events so that they show up in the calendar as 3 different days (three Tuesday nights in a row, for example), but when you register, you can only register for the whole series – all three. Can I do this? I can’t find a way to have the registration form allow for that. thanks!

This is possible with the [ESPRESSO_CART_LINK] shortcode: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/shortcodes-template-variables/#add-to-cart

[ESPRESSO_CART_LINK event_id=”1-2-3″ anchor=”Register for These Events”]

Thanks Chris – that doesn’t really work. I can’t put that code on the main registration page, along side everything else – like so: http://slamacademy.com/event-registration/

What I’ve done now, is move the second 2 events to “inactive”, and have the first one be the registration for the whole series. This mostly works, except the inactive events don’t show up in the calendar. What I really want is to have the calendar show an event on three consectuive Tuesdays (for example), but have it be one event to register for. (you pay $xx.00 for the series of 3 classes.)

TL;DR: Is there a way to show inactive events on the calendar? (show_expired=”true” doesn’t show inactive.). And I’m looking at both the calendar page, and the widget.
Thanks for all your help so far!

What you want is to add the three events as separate events, then go into the second and third events and set the Alternate Registration URL to the address of the first event. Then if you click on any of the three events in the series, you’ll always go to the first event to register. You may need to tweak the templates and/or event description to specify that the event takes place over three different days.

Thanks Chris –
That almost worked. I found a way to make the whole thing work by doing one more step. In the interest of people searching this forum, here is how I did it:
1. Make the class, and setup multiple events, thereby creating all three.
2. Put the first event in the category “class”
3. Set the second 2 events to have the alternative registration URL of the first event.
4. Set the second 2 events to be in a different category, but the same color on the calendar. I used “class-repeating”.

Doing things makes it so you register for all three classes at once, it shows up correct on the calendar, and the registration page only shows the class once (on the form that registers you for all three.).
A little tedious to setup all the classes this way, but it works. Yay.
thanks!

Right, if you wanted the events to not show as separate events on your event list then you’d need to do the extra step of adding those to a category and doing a category-specific event list for your “main” events.

Right – I forgot to mention that step. I changed my registration page to have this short code:
[EVENT_ESPRESSO_CATEGORY event_category_id=”class”]

So it only showed classes. All our other event types are free, so this works fine for me.
Thanks again Chris!
