multi day ticket event and scanning a 2-day ticket functionality?

I was wondering if event espresso can handle this scenario:

There is a 2 day festival. They can buy tickets for one day (and come either the first or second day) or buy a two day ticket (and come both days.) I think event espresso can handle this.

The more major question is the scanning at gate?
The two day ticket is scanned ok first day but what happens on the second day — I assume it would be rejected.

Is there a way for the 2 day ticket pack to create two tickets — one for each day. This would alleviate the issue of rescanning the same ticket on second day and it getting denied.

Thank you

Hello Heidi,

I’m testing something out to see if we can make this work. Is the price the same for both the 1 and 2 day passes?

Okay. Depending on your situation, I think this could work with the Multiple Event Registration add-on.

I have set something up on my testing site: http://eetesting.info/jon/?ee=49

The only drawback is that you won’t be able to allow group registrations on the 2 day passes.

Do you need unique tickets for each of the days?

I took a look at it. It could work.
As for unique tickets question.. I guess the important part is when they are scanned at door on day 1 and/or day 2 that each pass is recognized individually. A user could and probably would buy multiple 2 day pass tickets. i.e. one for themselves and one for their spouse. Is that what you are referring to in not allowing group registration?

HI Heidi,

You could still allow group registrations for 2 day ticket. I checked with Jonathan and he was thinking along the lines of making the second day a free ticket, but that doesn’t sound like what you’re after.
You can sell tickets as a two day pass, but it’s basically two tickets that get added to the cart with one click. Once they’re on the cart page, they can select quantities of tickets for both days and go to checkout to buy both tickets for both days in one purchase.

I’d recommend trying out the free test drive that you can sign up for here:

https://eventespresso.com/pricing/test-drive-event-espresso-promo/

Once you’re signed up, you can check out events “Day one”, “Day two”, and “Two day pass” to see how they’re set up.

Thanks. Still not quite what I was looking for but close.
One day could be good for either Day 1 or Day 2– you set it up as specific days. But I think there are options.

Gave quote to client with a few options and we’ll see.

Hi Heidi,

Making one ticket be valid for either day can be a bit tricky, because the scanner app needs to have a specific event selected to scan tickets for it. If there will be multiple scanner stations then that might work.
