Hello,
I am creating a new site for our event. In this new site I would like to use our ‘old’ event espresso plugin (and all admin). When finished, I would move the whole lot back to the original url. What would be the best way to manage this? Event Espresso is the only bit that I want to keep from my old site.
Thank you for your help!

Hi,

You could download the Event Espresso 4 plugin from your account page, then install the plugin onto your new site.

Since you’re planning on moving the new site back to the original URL, you will want to avoid setting the license key on the new site. After you’ve moved the site to the original URL, then you can set the license key in Event Espresso > General Settings.

Will this not effect all the content from my ‘old’ EE4 installation? The events and tickets that I have already? Are these data kept in a separate database? In other words; if I keep the EE4 plugin and all files in the plugin directory, it will work?

Currently, there isn’t a way to export only Event Espresso 4 data from Site A (‘old site’) into Site B (‘new site’). If you want to keep the data from the old site you’ll need to copy the database from the site and then remove what you don’t need from within the new site.

EE4 data is store in both the wp tables (some of EE uses custom post types) and we also store additional data within our own tables.

The plugin files do not store any data at all, it’s all within the database.

I understand.. it will be difficult either way.
Would it be possible to have a temporary (1 week) licence key so I can copy/paste the most essential options? Sounds not very practical but I would rather not copy the entire old data base into my new installation.

You don’t need a temp license 🙂

On the additional site, don’t set a license key and EE will work as normal. The license key provides support and updates, it does not block how EE functions in any other way.
