Mobile Scan and Event Attendees Error

When clicking on an event attendee lists, it comes up with an “Error Occurred”:
The request was a valid request, but the server is refusing to respond to it. Unlike a 401 Unauthorised response, authenticating will make no difference. On servers where authentication is required, this commonly means that the provided credentials were successfully authenticated but that the credentials still do not grant client permission to access the resource (e.g., a recognised user attempting to access restricted content).

QR Code Reader gives “This ticket is for a different event” for all scans.

Installed JSON Basic Authentication and changed htaccess file as suggested and still getting the same error.

The error message means that the app didn’t authenticate. Since you’ve tried the other Basic Auth plugin and made the .htaccess file, there may be something else that’s preventing authentication. Are there any activated security plugins on your site?

No there’s no security plugins installed. Just tested it on an android and got different errors in the same spot. Code reader gave “Sorry, you are not allowed to list registrations. Missing permissions:”… but doesn’t list missing permissions. Clicking Attendees give the error “Sorry, you are not allowed to list registrations related to Event. Missing permissions: ee_read_registrations,ee_read_others_registrations”. I’m using the Advanced Access Manager plugin on my site and can see that the account I’m using does in fact have those permissions. I can send you access to my site if you would like. Thanks.

There may not be much we can do if this is a server issue where it’s not allowing the Basic Auth plugin to authenticate.

What is the problem exactly that is stopping certain servers from authenticating? We house our sites in house and I could talk to our networking guys if I know what we need to do. Also, I’ve seen you mention that you’re working on another authentication system, is there an ETA on when this could be completed?

The exact issue was reported in this github issue:

https://github.com/WP-API/Basic-Auth/issues/1

We don’t have an ETA on when they’ll add support for additional authentication systems.

Is there another way to check tickets in without using the mobile app? Just through WordPress itself?

Yes, you’ll find a check in interface in Event Espresso > Registrations > Check in.

Alternatively you can use the barcode scanner add-on which doesn’t use the mobile apps.
