MOBILE APPS EMPLOYEE NOTES BLOCK?

For our kids parties, each party has crucial information my employees need to know per party. with 3-8 parties per week keeping notes within each event for employees to view is critical, ability for employee to add to the notes is important (changes made). The mobile check in app is where they should be able to view the party needs for them to set up for any scheduled party they are working. ie: is it a Ceramic, Canvas or Splatter room party, how many guests to set up for, (customer only buys 4 tickets to reserve) Childs name to write on the welcome board, if they need an extra table for food, utensils and paper goods, if they need freezer use, balloons-how many-what colors, or other things to set up prior to the party to be ready. HOW can I do this?

Hi there,

Currently, the apps can’t be used for this. You can’t change the app output to include additional fields and there is no functionality built into the app to update fields from within it so they won’t work for the above.

To allow the employee to update the fields within the event they would need access to edit the event in the admin, we don’t have any other front end editing capabilities within EE.

Viewing the data can be done without giving them access but will need a little custom development. For example, if you require that the employee logs into the site (you can set up their capabilities so they don’t have access to the admin when logged in) and then use a shortcode to hide content on the event details page unless the user is logged in with a specific role.

Plugins such as ultimate member allow you to create those types of shortcodes or you can use a custom function to do it, like these:

If this is event-specific information then another option is to use something like Advanced Custom Fields to add a section within the event editor for those details, although again that still going to require some custom development to output them on the front end if you don’t want the employee in the admin.
