Missing : in URL for Receipt and Invoice

On my Registration Approved (Admin) messages I’m missing the : (colon) in the URL when using [RECEIPT_LINK] and [PAYMENT_LINK]. The issue happens when I view the actual email and also when I view the message within Event Espresso using the “View Message” action. I’m using https, if that matters.

The odd thing is that the [PAYMENT_LINK] when used on the Registration Pending Payment (Registrant) email does work.

I’m out of ideas.

Hi there,

Can you confirm the shortcode you are using, please? The reason I ask is there is no [PAYMENT_LINK] or [RECEIPT_LINK] within EE as far as I am aware.

Do you mean [RECEIPT_URL], [PAYMENT_URL] and/or [PAYMENT_LINK_IF_NEEDED_*]?

Can you post a screenshot of the message template editor in text mode showing how you are using the shortcodes, please?

My fault – I wrote LINK instead of URL in this post. I am using the correct shortcode.

Attached is the screenshot.

The result of the above message is this. You can see the URL is missing the colon.

Thanks for confirming.

The fact that the Registration Pending Payment email works with the same shortcode hints the issue here is not with the return value from the shortcode itself.

Can you test the above message with the shortcodes outside of a tag, you can add them just above the current links if preferred.

If you don’t want to do this on the template currently in use for users, create a new custom template and assign it to a test event, then edit that template and register onto that event.

I did try those shortcodes outside of the a href and they worked appropriately. I then went back and removed them and checked the shortcodes within the a href and they were also working. At the same time I was doing all of this I received a real registration which also worked as it should.

I can’t really explain this, but it’s working now so I’m not going to mess with it. Thanks for your help!

Can’t really explain that myself to be honest, no idea why that would be the case.

In any case, “while it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

If it does happen again let us know and we can try digging a little deeper, its a strange one though.
