I guess I never answered your question on that last ticket and had not updated the setting. Just wanted to post here that I now have this set to ‘On a separate request’ in case it is getting reverted somehow. Our dev site did have this setting, perhaps I made the change to the wrong site previously.

Hmm, this is strange.

I spent some time trying to reproduce Registration Approved messages not sending if you get an AVS failure with Braintree with the option set to both of the available values but even after AVS and various other security failure I still get the Registration Approved messages when completing the payment.

The strange part is the messages are triggered based on the registration status being updated from Pending Payment to Approve, not the payment itself. (The registration is updated because of the payment being approved, but the payment itself doesn’t concern the registration and the payment method, in this case Braintree, does not trigger the messages itself)

Have you tested this with the Braintree payment method in Debug mode?

Do you have recent reports of this? Within say the last 30 days? If so you should have logs in the payment logs that I’d like to take a look at.
